Finally should I be using a FOSIL driver? I'm asuming no since the
games work (except of OOII).
Hello all. I run MBSE on SolydK Linux (Debian variant). It works
great for the most part and only took a little hacking to get door
games working. But I'm having a problem with Operation Overkill II.
It just doesn't seem to like DOSemu. Anybody else run this door?
Also some games seem to need a patch as the processor is to fast and
with out the patch will give a divide by zero error. Is this still
the norm or is there a way to slow DOSemu down enough that you don't
need to patch?

I don't think dosemu is the problem. I run it here just fine in dosemu I believe. Are you running ooinfo as well as maintoo?

Some games have never been patched, so yes some of them will still need it. I just keep a handy tppatch.exe and patchcrt.exe in an accesible directory in my dosemu sessions so I can use it whenever I need to.

It's still pretty common to need a fossil driver. So I would just load one in your autoexec.bat every time dosemu loads up. I personally use bnu170.zip (bnu.com is the executable), and haven't had a worry with games not running since. The game will either use it if it needs it, or it won't if it doesn't.
Thanks for the advice. I'll give those ideas a try and see what
happens. I relly like MBSE but I'm considering a WinXP or Win7 32
install to try out Mystic or Sync and see if the doors run any better.

FYI, I have both Mystic and Synchronet running here with door games, and no problems whatsoever. :)

About the only problem I have so far is with LORE and multi-user
support enabled. <someone> keeps following me every step I make. I'm
not sure why, but if anyone else has any ideas on this, lemme know. :)
By <someone> I mean literally, <someone>. Every step having to ignore
that message with a keypress, and only with multinode enabled.
multinode off, and it works fine, except that users couldn't interact
with other players at the same time.

HAHA! You have ghosts on your BBS already!?

Looks like it! Haha.. If only that were true.. I think it's just a bug
in LORE somewhere, somehow, but I can't pinpoint it to a specific thing.... I mean... WTF is it? ;)
