Is there an SQD editor ?

I'm looking for a tool that allows me to edit chain links in SQDs, or modify/renumber a Squish index, and even modify msg attributes eg. dates & times.

I want to be able to insert, move and renumber Squish messages.

For example, existing messages in area BBS_ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Msg#: 1 of 10, 01-Oct-2006
Msg#: 2 of 10, 02-Oct-2006
Msg#: 3 of 10, 03-Oct-2006

I want to insert a new message as #2, and then renumber subsequent messages accordingly ie. #2 to #3, #3 to #4 and so forth.

Additionally I would like to modify time stamps as well.

timEd and the Maximus Msg_ menu options don't allow me to edit time stamps.

There are some chain linker programs out there, but this is for using the plus (+) and minus (-) keys for chaining through a thread, and possibly some editing
of some attributes (such as file attach, crash, etc.). I don't know of any that allow editing of date / time stamps except for maybe a Y2K fix that fixed a bogus time stamp....

Ah.... You might want to use the tools to convert from squish to *.msg format,
perform your inster and then convert from *.msg back to squish. That might do what you want. If you are a major hub, you will need to take care to not dupe things back out in the process. Also, you may loose some history of what's been tossed to whom in the process.

Additionally I would like to modify time stamps as well.

i'm still trying to figure out why you'd want to do such a thing... inserting messages between others and realigning everything??

To keep BBS announcements in chronological order as the events actually happen(ed), for record keeping purposes perhaps.

Eg. If I make an announcement in a message area on the 5th October Re: "LORD Registered", and a couple of days later remember also registering BRE on the 3rd, I want to create a separate post that's date stamped for 03-Oct-06 and be indexed before the 5th October (Lord Registered) announcement.

Current Squish tools that I'm aware of aren't flexible enough for this type of manipulation - they only repair/defrag areas, and existing message editors don't allow modification of time stamps.

I could update bulletin.mec but that doesn't allow you to move back & forth between items, select messages by number or list posts in brief format, or even
write more than 15 or 20 lines of text (although I do have ideas on how to significantly improve the default Maximus bulletin system with these features using mecca).

Other than displaying Messages (and I am pretty sure you can do that with MEX),
all the above can be done using Mecca(/MEX) and I have been doing it here for years.
