Hello,
I want to connect a few chosen newsgroups to my newly installed
Synchronet BBS. And I can access the NNTP server via tin, and it shows
all the groups I have defined. What it doesn't do is fetch articles from
the external server I have defined in newslink.cfg.
I also can't seem to find event logs that concern newslink at all. Where exactly are those located?
Thanks
Thanks
Well, the question is also: do I need a feed from another server or is a user account enough?
As Synchronet seems to behave like a full server I guess I would need a feed?
you mean you want access to the usenet backbone? vert does not carry the usenet backbone.
You would need to put a server and username and password into your newslink cfg file. You can then assign those usenet msg areas to areas you created on your
bbs
I use astraweb

I have configured the newslink.cfg file, but I used a user account for
my server. Do I need to peer with another usenet server to be able to
use it? (yes, the backbone, I am trying to access another nntp-server in this case)
I touched newslink.now in the DATA folder and... nothing happens.
I can access the newsgroups locally with tin and post on them, but they don't fetch articles from other servers.
And I don't really know why they don't.
set up the areas to dump into your msg subs.

use jsexec to run them and look at the error msgs.

I did already solve this. Right now I am wondering how to run a
secondary newslink.cfg file
