It's tacky. what i do is just write a post for the topic. It's not hard. posting in every echo is just an amature move anyways; you should use the sysop echo for testing. It's like that everywhere and has been like that forever.

Riddle me this, on mightly all knowing genius one, if I post something from my board in the sysop area...how am I supposed to check it on another board, since I am not a sysop on another board? Tada!

You just ask the sysop of "another board" to give you access to the DOVE-Net Sysops sub. On Vertrauen, when creating a new user account, if you answer yes to the "Are you a Synchronet sysop?" question, then you'll get the necessary access flag automatically. I just added this flag your account on Vertrauen (you didn't have it).
Even JasHud occasionally has something valid/of-value to say. <shrug>
