So far the only other spam I've seen is that Magizian dude. He's hit several Synchronet boards so far, and spammed on Dovenet; we've already discussed the need to block network messages for new users. Hopefully most boards have done so.

Has anyone searched on Google with his real name? I forget it for the moment, but it's worth looking up. He's been busy...

Allowing unrestricted access via a website is one thing. Allowing it to enter the global FTN backbone is another. This is the route that the crap took:

    PATH2D: 5030/1492 1256 261/38 123/500 203/0 2

261/38, that's Janis, no? Why does the Russian node 5030/1256 (operated by Yuri Baranov of St. Petersburg) connect directly to her system? Obviously with unrestricted access?

Yes, true, internet has given us all an almost unlimited freedom in fidonet,
but maybe we all should be a *little* bit more restrictive? Once upon a time the FTN connected systems were obliged to make sure that their downlinks had proper restrictions, so that nobody could write in an echo without proving they
knew what postings were allowed in each and every echo.

Are you able to get netmail on the board you're using? I know some Sync boards
don't have netmail set up. I want to talk more about this, but not in the echo...trying to be good. <G>

I know I can send/receive from my uplink, so far as I know it's working. I'm still learning Fidonet...lol

Send some my way, let me know if it bounces or if you don't hear from me for more than a usual amount of time.
