• LordMenu is Fixed

Sounds like it is reading the first 26 but since the last 2 entries
are the typical string length (256) they only display the
last two lines. This might be a good clue. Sounds like
the program is not doing line feeds or separators and so
    reading it one screen.

Dennis Collins figured out how to fix the program, and its working again properly. Well not 100 percent, but good enough to make DOS LORD v4.08 beta happy. Which is what is important. The remaining glitches appear to be because Windows XP Home handles DOS ANSI emulation in a funny way. Dennis also
noticed the fact that the 3rdalt.txt entries made by my December 2005 beta of LordMenu only had the last two entries show up in LORD. It was something about
about the lack of carriage returns and line feeds I think. He can explain the problem and how he fixed it better than I can.

I'll post the updated program code and program beta for others to use and check
out soon on my web-site. Dennis is going to make sure that the RIP graphics menu component works properly when he has time. I've never used RIP graphics myself with LORD, or anything else, so that's a part of LordMenu I never tried to figure out.

I'll try to get back to this when I get time....
... "The year is 2258. The name of the place is Babylon 5."

Its so nice to see another Babylon 5 fan out there. Did you hear that there is
going to be a Babylon 5 movie out soon? Only bad thing is that its going straight to DVD, and won't be in the movie theatres, and probably won't ever be
    on network/cable TV.

I appreciate all the time you and others, including Dennis Collins and Bjorn Felten, have put into analyzing the 3rdalt.txt situation for me.

Now I need to find someone who knows how to remove registration code from the Castle of LORD lord igm's exe file for me. Trevor Herndon authorized my having
that done, but I never got around to finding someone who could do it. I've searched for years now and have yet to find anyone with a registration code for
the igm that they would let others use publicly. It has two events, The Palace
and Training Grounds that you can't use in the shareware version, which is the only one anyone appears to have. I can fix RTE200 most of the time in LORD program EXE files, but hex editing to remove "IF registered" type coding is not
something I know how to do.

Does anyone know of any BBS sysops who are still around who would have been registering Trevor's igms back in the 1990's before he lost his computer in that home burglary in the mid-90s? Donald

No problems, debugging DOS programs is easy compared to the bloated Windows programs we have nowadays.

Just send it here and I'll see what I can do. I need of course all files needed to actually run the program(s)...

I'll make a note to send you the Castle of Lord program archive soon. Right now, I'm dealing with a screwed up installation of Norton Antivirus 2007, that has me figuratively feeling like Mount Vesuvius. I looked on the Symantec web-site BEFORE the installation to try to see if there were any "gotchas" I needed to know about. Didn't see any. I start the install from cd-rom, and lo
and behold it (NAV 2007 installer) demands that I un-install ZoneAlarm which has worked PERFECTLY for me for over two years, co-existing all that time with NAV 2005 and NAV 2006. Then I can't get the Norton Account crap to work for nearly a full day. To add to the migraine, NAV 2007 has caused, I have to un-install the blasted program using their Norton Removal Tool and re-install all over again. Which of course means doing their blasted Full System Scan again. Which has gone from requiring 3 hours to 4 hours or more.

I heavily recommend to everyone that they strongly consider boycotting Norton Antivirus 2007 if they use ZoneAlarm, and try someone else for antivirus protection, since I'm so upset with them.

So dealing with sending LORD files will wait until I either have NAV 2007 re-installed and working, or I've given up on it for awhile, and installed AVG Free. Which probably will have no problem working with ZoneAlarm. There's nothing on the NAV 2007 product box that even says "This program now has its own Firewall software included."

And one needs a blasted magnifying glass to read those blasted manuals from companies like Symantec. And TurboTax Deluxe 2006 Tax year s/w is waiting to be installed. I just hope its not going to give me yet another migraine when I
    try doing it.

I know this is off-topic, but which echo on Fidonet should I go to to find out if others are having this kind of problem? Thanks, Donald.

I may miss it as only a week left before I close the BBS down.
    Good luck.

I'm sure Scifi will pick it up and air it as they did his
shows. Yep. I'm actually watching Jeremiah his (JMS's)
other work now. Only first season dvds though.

Not much help from me due to time. About to close the
BBS down on 2/1 so been busy with that. But I may eventually
logon to a board and be in fido again soon.
