• turbo pascal under winxp

    From Michael Preslar@1:275/112 to FidoNet.PASCAL on Sun Nov 12 00:18:56 2006
For the longest time, I've run Turbo Pascal's TPX.EXE under winxp
without any problems.. However, things have changed.. TPX is now slow to
load, slow to react (i.e. 3-4 seconds before reacting to a keypress),
and other whatnot. When switching between windows (alt-tab usually), the system is slow to respond..

Nothing on my system has changed (system settings, swap file, etc)..
    Havent even installed IE7..

Have tried tame, moslow, and dosbox, and nothing seems to help..

    Any ideas?

    system stats:
    - XP Pro SP2 with all updates installed
    - I made sure to check performance between each win update, and none of
them made a difference (positive or negative)
    - "My Computer" -> Properties says: AMD Sempron 2200+, 1.49ghz, running
    a gig of ram
    - No issues reported in the device manager..
    - no virii reported by the three online checkers I ran..
    - all hdd's checked for problems weekly (chkdsk, defrag, etc) (and again
last night, while I was watching, just to be sure)

I've not run tp in like 7-8 years. Still run bp and such
    or delphi.

If nothing has changes its hard to track down. Could be some
corrupted or locked files. Have you tried to reninstall tp itself?
Its small enough it should go fast.
