From Phillip Kimble@1:128/2 to All on Fri Aug 3 13:57:44 2018

    Hello everybody!

Does running Proboard 2.17 on ArcaOS count for this echo? Its my current project - Frodo, FastEcho, Allfix, & Proboard. Its a system I ran in the 90s under MS-Dos & DV.

While I am not specifically having issues, I am looking for best of the best add-ons. Specially Graffiti wall, oneliner, matrix logn...

Does anyone know if we can still register Allfix 5.13 or is it better to find a
    different ticker?

    Thanks much,
    Phil

yes, if it is a DOS-native BBS...

sounds like it is a DOS-native BBS...

that'd probably be best found rooting about in old BBS Door archives found all over the 'net...

no, allfix older than v6.* cannot be registered... that and the owner has recently passed on to another plane of existance... not sure what will happen with the code considering the ownership and no knowledge what any will may have
allowed to be done with it... there are, however, at least two or three coders that do have the code...

as for finding a different TIC processor, that may be a tough job considering the age of the BBS software... the old Tic or Raid may work but automatically updating your BBS' file areas might be a but of a manual chore... the existing filegate.zxx file is in Raid format so using it should be ok... at least for the area definitions and access permissions...

i'm sure there's more but it is hot and my brain is tired...

I saw that - I am tryong to catch up from the last few years of "off-the-net". What a shame, I always like Bob, we spoke a few times on the phone a few years ago before I dropped out of sight.

Using htick on Linux so if Allfix fails me, I may use TinyTic, which used to be
a PITA to setup as you pointed out or htick.

NO worries, your words are very useful. Thank you.

I am trying to get this 'thang' running & so far so good. I just have to start writing batch files to automate everything. I installed binkd to move files between my node & points since my node is a barebones vps.

Next week I will be home for R&R and will move the system off my laptop onto the ESXi, stand it up, & pray for visitors. I think we all have had enough rain this year...

    I don't see why not! :)

AFAICT, AllFix is now free. I believe the original developer passed away recently and development and support is now being handled by a new developer.

    Peace,
    Robert

You cannot register 5.13 but there is a free version at www.allfix.com. The 5.13 code I never received when I obtained allfix from the original author but later turned it over to Bob when I left fidonet way way back. I tried to get the 5.13 key generator workng but gave up since since I was missing key parts to make it work. Bob had a developer working with him and he has taking the project fully over.

The new released version of allfix is suppose to be like 5.x since he removed all the non filefix stuff to try and return the product back to what it was really good at from what I hear.
