FAT par.....the rest of the Hd is dos and i'm looking for a good
internet connection program for this to run the dos bbs does os/2
have any such virtual modem shim to allow a dos bbs access to the
net....??

A registered copy of SIO allows you to use it's vmodem. Basically,
you set up the sio lines in config.sys to say which com ports are
internet fed using vmodem, then fire up vmodem, and then fire up
your bbs nodes using those com ports.

The only requirement for vmodem to work is to have an existing
tcp/ip signal, so before firing up vmodem, you must already be on
the internet. How you are connected to the inet doesn't matter,
just that you are.

is that Warp 3 Connect? if so and it already have the networking stuff installed, then a copy of InJoy will handle the connection for you and Ray Gwinn's SIO package with the original vmodem will allow you to set up the virtual ports for the DOS software to talk to...

Not exactly. When I used dial-up, I use to load Vmodem at boot-up. When I used In-Joy to dial in to my ISP the Vmodem port knew to use the modem.

is the way to go...

Nope, SIO doesn't care about the IFS, but you do need to register
SIO for VModem to work. Plus SU won't work until SIO is reg'ed.

Nope.. I go out on the net via dial-up with a PPP dialer for DOS
that runs in the window for the BBS main line. Something about
the software not sharing the modem, for InJoy, or others. Soon I
will be getting DSL, and will look into trying to access via a
router, and FINALLY get a node or two up for telnet. I'll have to
upgrade the Warp3 to Warp3 Connect to get the networking, but
that shouldn't be that drastic.
