• FidoNet file bases

From LEE WESTLAKE@2:250/6 to All on Sat Mar 6 20:47:37 2021
    Hi All,

Having recently joined FidoNet, I've successfully managed to configure both message and file bases so that new messages and files appear in the
    appropriate groups when posted.

However, I seem to have the following two problems:

    1) When file bases are automatically added via mutil, they are created with
the correct "Export To: 1 node(s)", but the "Net Address" field is "0:0/0" (Local).

    2) Having subscribed to certain file bases, I only receive newly added files
as opposed to those it already contains; is there anyway to get the full complement of files?

    Best Regards

    Hi All,

Having recently joined FidoNet, I've successfully managed to configure both message and file bases so that new messages and files appear in the appropriate groups when posted.

    Welcome to Fidonet Lee!
However, I seem to have the following two problems:

    1) When file bases are automatically added via mutil, they are created with the correct "Export To: 1 node(s)", but the "Net Address" field is "0:0/0" (Local).
In the bottom of your FileToss statement you should have this setup:
; Node-specific options allow some options to be overridden when a file is
; coming from a specific node. These options should be prefixed with the
; address, examples for each supported option are listed below in comments

    ;46:100/1_bad_dir = d:\mystic\files\badfile_agoranet\
    ;46:100/1_dir_prefix = d:\mystic\files\agora_
    ;46:100/1_allow_replace = true
    ;46:100/1_acs_list = s20z2
    ;46:100/1_acs_ftp = s20z2
    ;46:100/1_acs_download = s20z2
    ;46:100/1_acs_upload = s20z2
    ;46:100/1_acs_hatch = s20z2
    ;46:100/1_acs_sysop = s255z2

    1:120/457_bad_dir = d:\mystic\files\badfile_fido\
    1:120/457_dir_prefix = d:\mystic\files\fido_
    1:120/457_allow_replace = true
    1:120/457_acs_list = s20z3
    1:120/457_acs_ftp = s20z3
    1:120/457_acs_download = s20z3
    1:120/457_acs_upload = s255z3
    1:120/457_acs_hatch = s20z3
    1:120/457_acs_sysop = s255z3
Of course this is from my board so yours would need to be adjusted to fit
you. You should have this for every Network you belong to (and the same for messages bases)
    2) Having subscribed to certain file bases, I only receive newly added files as opposed to those it already contains; is there anyway to get
    the full complement of files?

If you can find a sysop who is willing to give you FTP access to there file bases OR contact the IFDC Filegate http://www.filegate.net (Janis Kracht) to see if you can get FTP access to "fill" your file areas.
    Jeff

    Welcome to Fidonet Lee!

Thanks Jeff. It's been a steep learning curve, but I'm getting there slowly.

Brilliant, just what I needed; all bases now appear to import correctly.

If you can find a sysop who is willing to give you FTP access to there file bases OR contact the IFDC Filegate http://www.filegate.net (Janis Kracht) to see if you can get FTP access to "fill" your file areas.

TBH Jeff, I was more concerned about doing something wrong than actually getting the files onto my system; most SysOps do a great job of serving
files to their users, so I'm quite happy to use their systems to
cherry-pick the odd file i might need.

Needless to say, your help has been very much appreciated.

    Best Regards
