    Hello everybody!

    I have some probems with mystic nntp

    - when i'm not receiving poster email (it's relevant for my purposes, is there a way to create a functioning one given username and origin ?)
    - when i post messages, all messages are written in behalf of user i use for login (may i override this value? with a custom header?)
    - i have no way to recognize messages that i have postes (so that, they all are
    received again and i have duplicates); again, may i send a custome header that mystic will send me back ?

    or is there an alternative nntp server that may m bypass these problems ?
    i would like to synchronize my bbs message base with a web forum

    I suspect there's no solutions for these issues. You are trying to use Mystic's NNTP server in a way it wasn't designed to be used, so the assumprions on which it was written aren't valid for your use case.

    I don't know if you can do it with Mystic. You could try JAMNNTPd, but again you may run into design limitations. Only one way to find out though. :)

    I it not clear to what exactly the problem is. You have a JAM message base and a web forum and somehow the web forum can synchronize with a NNTP server? Which
    web forum software is it?

    I'm using fudforum , there's an nntp.php script that synchronizes forum with a nntp server

    I'm trying to modify the script to bypass the problems

    the forum is here:
    https://fidonet.3bsoft.com

    actually, all messages imported are written by "Anonymous" and in the 1st line contain someting like "Originally posted by: ..."

    and if you write a new one, it gets duplicated (after a few minutes, the synchronization is made through a job)

    This is interesting. Let me know what issues you're having. The NNTP server in Mystic probably does need some work as not many people have really used it outside of some mobile phone apps to read.

    I've played with FUDforum. Haven't tried integrating NNTP, only mailing lists, which it does quite well.

    That's a configuration issue, from what I remember. You have a choice of either auto creating a new account for every unknown poster or not. If you do allow the account creation, messages coming in via NNTP will appear from the poster, otherwise they will appear as you describe.

    I had no issues with mailing lists (like Yahoo groups, etc), but no experience with NNTP.

    the problem is that i have not enough info to crete a new user ; i think hat only email is valid (with a user name, not a real email );
    i have to rebuild both, possibly using a valid fidonet email (some years ago there was a gateway to sens/receive mails from fidonet, is there anything like that nowadays?)

    messages seems to have incomplete user info ;
    and then, i would like to add custome headers to mark messages (i thought to add a custom hader for real name / real email, so that nntp server may override
    he login user name );
    other custome headers (alrrady added by fudforum) shpuld help to identify messages that were written in the forum, but mystic does not use them and i do not receive headers back

    FUDforum will auto create the user - it's just an entry in the user database. That's what the setting I mentioned controls.
