• Best Music of 2005

From James Bradley@1:342/77 to Sean Dennis on Wed May 5 18:09:06 2010
On or about 01-27-06 09:28, Sean Dennis allegedly uttered "Re: Best Music of 2005" to CINDY VANWAGENEN:

I have everything from Bile to Dink to Cash and Dylan...and most
grunge and '90's rock to '60's rock and Rocky Horror to Hedwig. Plus
some old delta blues, ala Sonny Terry and Brownie Magee...etc.

Sounds very encompassing. I've tried not to narrow down my tastes too much. There's some things I can't stand (rap being one of them),

OK, I'm late to to topic to be *sure*, but I'm starting in on a 300 message backlog here. (Heck, it's only been *half* a decade ago! B-)

To the topic of rap I've liked: (Not much, I assure you.)

N.E.R.D. More a crossover of electronic and spoken words, but these kids impressed me as being smart and punctual.

One song called Can I Get A... A conglomerate of artists, I can't imagine who it was released under, but I think Jay Z and Ja Rule were prominent.

Grand Master Flash And The Furious Five - The Message. The start of it all? <G+D>

Besides one from Belgium - I believe - (I hear it on a station that seems exempt from announcing any artists and titles.) that just about concludes my list of "spoken word" "artists".

If I had to pick...my fave band is Tool. A Perfect Circle being part
    and parcel.

I haven't listened to them enough to judge anything by
them. I do know they're quite popular though. My
    friend's a Tool fan.

Cindy sounds like a pistol! Is she still about? I have a Tool CD in the van right now. It doesn't see much airtime, as I've got too many interesting radio stations to listen to. #1 used to be publicly funded, and now run as a "user supported" venture, like PBS TV campaign drives. (ckua.com) They've been getting a little fluffy over the past few years, but a few of their djs are spectacular. #2 Aboriginal Voices Radio, where I hear some interesting foreign contemporary and traditional "native" tunes. (Google the name, but they didn't have a stream online last I checked.)

Speaking of fan, I'm going to go buy the new DM CD today.
I've heard enough of it to where the CD belongs on my
shelf now. Of course, I'll rip it and immediately put it
    into my MP3 list.

Dutch Mason, or Dave Matthews? (I think Dutch is dead, so can I presume??? ;-) Early Matthews Band was a staple for me! Carter Brufurd (SP?) was like a breath of fresh air to me.
