From Dale Shipp@1:261/1466 to All on Sun Nov 25 01:23:08 2018
I am trying to make an echo readonly, even for myself. I have attempted
to use the readonly attribute on FIDOTEST, putting it in a couple of
places that looked reasonable -- but my messages there are still getting
    out.

Here is my last attempt (I did siltn after making the changes).

    MsgArea FIDOTEST
    ACS normal
Style Squish Echo pub RealName HighBit readonly
    Path H:\IM\MAIL\SQ\FIDOTEST
    Tag FIDOTEST
    Desc FIDOTEST
    Renum Days 7
    Renum Max 800
    End MsgArea

Can anyone tell me how to accomplish my goal?

Max will still let you post as a sysop in a ReadOnly echo. You might have to set a flag to not have to post in the echo.

Yes, I am the sysop. Even so, I want it to be blocked even for me since
access is read only and I do not want to make a mistake.

That is what I was beginning to suspect -- do you know of a flag that
    would prevent inadvertent posting?

What I did was add the flag P to everyone's account. Then in the ACS of the area, I added "!P" to post. I am at work right now (on break!) and will take a look at my MSGAREA.CTL when I get home tonight.

On a side note: I bought ArcaOS Personal Edition and was able to successfully install it on a Lenovo ThinkCentre M80 SFF desktop. I have a few more arrangements to make and I'll bring my Max/2 system back online again.
