Does anybody know if inter-bbs gaming is still popular ?

I'm thinking about registering stuff from "johndaileysoftware.com" but don't really want to be stuck playing online games by myself or with slow, infrequent
    or inactive players.

For example the low activity received in MUFFIN would make for a boring online game.

    Hello Mvan,

Does anybody know if inter-bbs gaming is still popular ?

I think so.. check out Carol Shenkenberger's bbs, 1:275/100. From what I understand, her system has become quite "the site" for inter-league games. Is that the kind of thing you're talking about?

I'm thinking about registering stuff from "johndaileysoftware.com" but don't

    or inactive players.

From what I understand, there are plenty of users out there who want to play games online :)

For example the low activity received in MUFFIN would make for a boring online
    game.

Hey I still check it out, and I haven't even been able to get the linux version
of Maximus to run on this 64-bit system.. bah... It's a Dell inspiron 531s .. nice. but...

    Take care,
    Janis

Yeah but I'm talking about online BBS games ... were you talking about online BBS games ?

Yeah but you probably have some kind of mail reading tool that flags favourite echoes for activity. That's cheating.

I'm talking about those hardcore people who check every single echo - even reading the moderator rules just to see if there has been a change. Heh.

Yeah but I'm talking about online BBS games ... were you talking about online BBS games ?

I'm talking about systems that join leagues to compete in various online door games.

No, not at all <grin>.. BBBS is nice in that it does show you messages to 'you'
when you login.. but, in general if a message area just interests me, I just read it now and then. I can see what areas have new messages.. I guess that's pretty handy.

    Take care,
    Janis

That is what VMware is for. VMware Player (which can also create VMs) and Server are free.

C'mon Janis. BBBS has got to be the worst I've ever seen. It doesn't even have a decent online editor that can quote messages properly.

Even Opus is better than BBBS.

    Not interested.

You can swap in any editor you like.

Even Opus is better than BBBS.

Your opinion, and your choice to believe so.

Have you run either Opus or BBBS? Just curious, though not really a big deal.... I doubt you've ever set up BBBS to be honest.

    Take care,
    Janis

A true Maximus fan would never say that.

    You're just lazy.

Then why don't you swap in a useful editor. One that can scroll the screen and redraw properly. And has decent message quoting functionality.

It's not just my opinion. Even you yourself said nobody likes your BBS software.

Have you run either Opus or BBBS? Just curious, though not really a big deal.... I doubt you've ever set up BBBS to be honest.

I have run Opus, and still have it installed. I tested it with NetSerial a couple of days ago.

I don't need to run BBBS. I'm already using on your BBS (and can therefore validly criticise it).
