I was just tipped off to this by a post in uk.media.tv.misc. Sue
Jones-Davies (Judith in LoB) is now the mayor of Aberystwyth, Wales - and
is trying to overturn her town's ban on showings of "Brian", still in
    effect almost 30 years later!

Hello Erik! Your post is timely. Just the other day, someone I knew
was telling me how much he enjoyed Monty Python films but then remarked
that he can't watch Life of Brian due to his personal beliefs. I was
quite surprised those attitudes still existing in the face of today's
    movie and television offerings.

When "LOB" came out, I was quite the "Holy Roller" but still enjoyed the movie as I "got" the joke. Actually, it's fairly historically accurate, as the times

were calling for a messiah of some sort, political or otherwise. Brian's "disciples" just got it wrong, that's all.

Nothing offensive at all about it, really. Well, /maybe/ the "Full Monty" shot.....

Yes, times have not really changed.
Many people who have no idea what LOB was really about are still very much against it (of course without having seen it, because knowledge is the enemy of primitive thought).
The main difference between genius and stupidity is that stupidity has no limits.
