Yes, you go through the same build process. Of course, it's
recommended to backup your system first. The programs should automatically upgrade the data files for any changes in the newer
version.
libiconv library elements. Possibly caused by allowing the system to remove orphaned packages when I should know better :).
A new distro sounds like a plan !
One more.... Where does one get this new version?
From the Git or Hg repositories on the SourceForge website.
