From Vince Coen@2:250/1 to All on Sat Nov 30 19:32:53 2013
    Hello All!

I am using Mageia v3 along with apache v2.4.4-7 and cannot give access to web users to the file areas including mbseman. However the stats works.

Can anyone help and I will post the config file.

This has been an issue since moving over from Mandriva 2011 to Mageia and I upgraded to v3 hoping that it would be sorted.

Have now got proftpd to work which was also a problem now that I have
installed linux onto a new Asus Sabertooth 990FX mobo with a AMD 8350 but thats
as far as I have been able to go.

At some point I need to transfer the lot which is running on a 1TB drive over to the original 3TB one having rebuilt it for GPT.

    Thanks,

    Vince

I'm not familiar with Mageia, but that shouldn't be an issue. I'll do what
    I can to help.

Besides the config file, I'll also need a little information about
directories and how you are providing access to the file area.

In my case, I just have a symlink /var/www/files that points to /var/spool/mbse/ftp (which is the same as /opt/mbse/ftp/pub)

In my apache config, I use 'Options FollowSymLinks', but you should be able
to use an Alias and make sure to have the appropriate <Directory ..>
    section.

Sounds like Mageia may have a more security minded default apache config in place.

Wow! That sounds nicer than my workstation at home, and definitely more
than I toss at any of my home servers.

At some point I need to transfer the lot which is running on a 1TB drive over to the original 3TB one having rebuilt it for GPT.

My BBS is using a 4G Compact Flash for the boot drive, then NFS mounting my file server for storage (msg and file areas). I've been tempted to move all the BBS files to the file server, then make it so I can bring up a VM to
host the BBS if I even need to take the hardware offline for an extended
length of time... although I think that would be a bit overkill with the 1
or 2 users that might connect every week.

    Thanks,

    Vince
