  • Invalid LORDEXT.DAT file in DOS LORD v4.08 beta

    Does anyone out there have a VALID Lordext.dat file from DOS LORD v4.8 beta that is 100% OK? Mine is screwed up some how. The Lord.zip file inside the l408b-d1.zip archive that I got last September from Preslar is screwed up. Pkunzip -t shows the message "failed CRC Check" for that file.

    Having a screwed up lordext.dat file may explain why I am unable to get some things in LORD to work correctly, such as the complete failure by DOS LORD to do the Change Skill Class routine correctly in the Dark Horse Tavern. So does any of you have a valid LORDEXT.DAT file I can get?

    I don't think you can use the LORDEXT.DAT file from v4.07 in a v4.08 beta game,
    but am not 100% sure on that. So it would be nice to have a file that is not screwed up. Thanks Donald.

    well, you are a beta tester, so contact the developer.

    I did that and no response yet. If I ever hear back from Preslar and learn anything of use to others, I'll post it here at that time. For now, it would just be nice to know exactly what the status of LORD program development is. Most programs that are submitted to beta testers don't do one compilation in one month (late September 2007), and then absolutely nothing happens to the programs for 7+ months afterwards. Nope, I've never seen that happen before. Although it does remind me at times of some programs from Micro$oft that you wait and wait and wait for. And NetScape has been known to be the same way regarding Communicator I think. Donald

    well,i would say that it would vary on the author.

    also, i would say dont worry about it.
