    Notes:

To make an IPv6 connection to a node connected via 6to4 tunneling
one may have to force the mailer into IPv6 (-6 option in binkd's
node config for binkd up to 1.1a-96, -64 option for binkd 1.1a-97
and up when compiled with AF_FORCE=1). If the destination address
is a 6to4 tunnel address (2002::/16) many OSs default to IPv4 if
    an IPv4 address is present.

    Hello All,

The list has been cleaned up. All nodes that no longer support IPv6,
have been doing so for over two months and who's sysops have not res-
ponded to netmail have been removed. That brings the counter below
    100 again.

    Hello All,

I cleaned up some more. I removed all systems that no longer present an AAAA record in the host name. I also removed systems that advertise IPv6 capability but are not IPv6 connectable and who's sysops have not responded to netmail in over a month.

We are down to 93 nodes. I fear this will become the first year that the number of Fidonet IPv6 nodes has shrunk instead of grown. My guess is that the main reason for the shrinkage is the shrinkage of Fidonet itself. :(

Read back the old thread you were replying. The question was about "List of IPv6 nodes". It had absolutely nothing to do with binkd or connectivity.

why is it needed to use external lists ?

    Remarks:

    f Has a ::f1d0:<zone>:<net>:<node> style host address.
    Example: ::f1d0:2:280:5555 (for node 2:280/5555)
IO Incoming only (Node can not make outgoing IPv6 calls)
OO Outgoing only (Node can not accept incoming IPv6 calls).
INO4 No IPv4 (Node can not accept incoming IPv4 calls).
PO4 Prefers Out on 4 (Node can make outgoing IPv6 calls,
but is configured to try IPv4 first)
6DWN The IPv6 connectivity of this node is temporarely down.
NO6 The node no longer presents an IPv6 address in the nodelist
and will soon be removed from this list.
HOLD The node is temporarely off-line. Mail may be routed.
DOWN This node is Down for both IPv4 and IPv6 and will be
removed from this list if the condition pertains.
PM Prospective Member. The node has demonstrated IPv6
capability but is not listed or does not advertise an
IPv6 address in the Fidonet nodelist yet.

The Quadrober movement (quadrobics, where people imitate animals) is very popular among Russian youth.

AH, I see. You refuse connections with unlisted systems. There is a flag for that, the LO flag. You do not carry that flag in the nodelist. So....

I do accept connections, but not always and not from everyone. There is no such flag in nodelist and if you want to connect to my system - you should request a link or contact your NC to reappear in nodelist.

Yes, when I disable the IPv6 firewall, incoming IPv6 connection are possible. But of course I am not going to do that. Then ALL unsollicited IPv6 packets are allowed. No way Jose!

Port forwarding is for IPv4, Yes that works.

Indeed. FTH is booming and the competition is fierce. Several competing companies ae rolling it out like a flood. Planting their flag in as many households in as short a time as possible is their first priority. All to be ahead of the competition.

My fiber ISP is Delta Caiway and the connection has been active for just over a year. IPv6 is relatively new to them. Until less than a year ago they were IPv4 only. They are relatively new and so they do not have a large stockpile of IPv4 like the incumbants. They grow fast and so last year they ran out of IPv4 and started putting customers on CGNAT. Then they woke up and realised that they could no longer postphone IPv6. So now they offer IPv6. But as could be expected under these circumstances, they still have to deal with the child's diseases. It is something that all IPv6 advocates - including me - have been saying for years. Don't postpone IPv6 until you no longer have a choice. Because then it will take much more effort and cost much more than when you do it when there is no deadline. We see what happens if you do not listen to that advice.

In theory I could fix it by getting my own fiberglass modem/router but for XSPON they are expensive and there is little choice. Plus that it is not easy to get it running. I just think that the burden of providing a decent modem/router is on them.

I had xPON (compatible with several standards) SFP in my Mikrotik router in Moscow 2 years ago, replacing a very limited ZTE GPON router. Mikrotik had problems with it in certain firmware releases, but overall, the experience was exciting.
Currently, I had to reinstall the ZTE router back because I can't just teleport to Moscow to fix any problems with the SFP, and the ZTE has been quite stable.

If you'd like, I can send you the SFP and help to setup it in compatible router. Alternatively, you could try configuring your router as a bridge. Is that possible? You could then connect it to another intelligent router. I had this setup in Moscow for a while, but, once again, I can't teleport there to resolve any issues. However, this might not be a concern in your case.

Another option is a dumb GPON-to-Ethernet bridge as separate device, but I've never tried them myself.
The main issue with these 3rd-party devices is to obtain all required parameters from provider's router, which is sometimes not possible without the provider's support :(

    Yes that can be problematic.

But right now I have other priorities than engaging in such an adventure. Fortunately the fiber is "open". One can choose between half a dozen ISPs. So if my pesent ISP cab not solve the problem with the IPv6 pinholing in their modem/router I will simply switch provider when the contract expires...
