The BBS-Scene IRC network was born out of necessity. BBS-Scene is the perfect place for old school BBS fans to hang out, get their questions answered, and learn a thing or two.

Although the network is BBS-centric, it is also open to anyone. You are free to setup a channel and chat with people from all around the world. 3 different servers located in different locations on 10 megabit pipes offers excellent speed and reliability.

Our goal is to provide a safe, user-friendly and friendly environment for the many channels and users we provide service to. We offer many different services, such as a NickServ to register and protect your Nick, ChanServ to help you keep control of any channel you setup, and the latest technology in virus and spam protection, not to mention our friendly and knowledgeable network staff.

bbs-scene.org is a collection of free services offered to the bbs community (and any one else as well).

irc.bbs-scene.org offers a free bbs specific IRC server where bbs sysops and users alike can hang out and get their questions answered or learn a thing or two. irc.bbs-scene.org is linked with the synchro.net irc network, a perfect place for all you synchronet sysops. Chanserv, nickserv and multiple levels of spam and drone detection keep the nasties away.

news.bbs-scene.org is a free text only Usenet server. We are peered with multiple NSP's across the world and carry the big 8 (rec.soc., etc), alt., many regional hierarchies and we are the official Usenet home of the SciNet FTN network. The service is 100% and is available to anyone who registers for an account. We carry almost all the text newsgroups and run multiple filtering packages to keep the spam away. You can log in with your favorite nntp client of link the newsgroups to your bbs by using a bbs package that supports nntp gating like synchronet or by using dedicated software like Internet Rex.
