The cost of living in California requires that one work, even though retired. The latest problem, besides the high taxes, fuel costs and
housing is the 300% increase in electricity, caused by the de-regulation
of the energy producers. I've been seriously thinking of selling my
house, packing it up and moving to Florida...

I agree with bailing out of California. But FLORIDA would be one of my
    LAST choices.

I can't think of a better place. No income taxes, no high cost DMV fees,
no smog checks, low property taxes, a fair wage to living costs ratio and reasonable housing costs. I'm not worried about the hurricane situation,
as the place I'm thinking of has never had a problem. My only concern is
the bugs and humidity. I can put up with bugs and humidity can be taken
care of with an air conditioner.

Those were the Two I was thinkinjg about also. And whiel Bugs can
partialy be taken care of particualrly if you Never go Outside the Air Conditiong Cost can be a Killer. I can take even the Hottest Days in El
Cajon Valloey or even out in Campo even outside. But I cannot take thwe OPRESSING Hot Sticky Weather like in Florida. And rembember they are
Just a year or two away form us in Electrical Power Costs.
