• Peter Green / Mayall Tou

From Martin Ridgley@1:153/831 to All on Tue Aug 15 12:22:04 2000
    Hey all,

I just stumbled across this info and thought I'd pass it along to
fans and any other interested folks.

Peter Green and his Splinter Group, are set to embark on a tour in
the U.S. Green is supporting his latest CD "Hot Foot Powder", on
which he is joined by legendary bluemen Dr. John, Joe Louis Walker,
Buddy Guy, and Hubert Sumlin among others.

Interestingly, they're sharing the bill this time out with John
Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, but before you get your hopes up, the
European leg of the tour apparently didn't feature any on-stage
jamming between the members of the two bands.

Below are some of the dates. (These are not all confirmed yet, so
please check your local concert listings.)

    Sept. 6 - Boston/Roxy

I plan to be there, I was last time he was in Portland. It was a kick getting to talk to him afterward and getting him to sign the pick gaurd on my Les Paul.

While I'd love to see him, just a warning not to get your hopes up.
According to Bill, the drugs really have taken their toll and the hidden brilliance rarely shines through the haze.

Even so, I'm going back to see him again in Sept. I keep hoping he'll come out
of the haze. And even if I only get the occasional flash from him, I think it's worth it. besides, maybe he'll do a few of the old numbers with Mayall.

Yeah, so I've heard. I wasn't aware that it was a drug problem,
though. Anyway, if I'm free that night, I might just go down and
try to see him anyway, if only out of respect for what he once was.

Peter Green remains one of my favourite blues guitarists for the
work he did with Mayall and the Mac all those years ago. So even
the smallest flash of the old brilliance would make it worth the
    night out for me.

Yeah, I have tickets for the Portland show. I'm trying to decide if I want to lug my Les Paul to the show and have him sign it.
