By the way, I left out the fact that Joe Pass played solo guitar
with walking bass lines that GROOVED. He has this uncanny ability
to suddenly pause from a smoking chordal/bass line improvisation
and break into a series of flowing lines devoid of any accompaniment, then return to his solo guitar style. He was indeed a VIRTUOSO.

He sure was! I only got to see him perform once. He was sitting in
with the Oscar Peterson Trio at a jazz festival. Unfortunately I was
seated a long way from the stage, but it was still a treat to see him.

I not only got to see Joe play I also had the privilege of interviewing
him. Truly unique. He used his fingers mostly but kept a pick between
his lips and would use it for speed and power.
