• Hello guitar and bass players

From Jesse Lawrence@1:153/7042 to All on Wed May 14 23:39:25 2014
    Hello all,

I recently got FidoNet up and running on my BBS, so I thought I'd drop by this echo and say hello. I've been playing guitar around 25 years, and recently made the switch to bass. It's really rejuvenated my playing -- I've been working hard to be a well rounded bass player (not just a guitar player playing bass), and I'm hoping to start playing around Vancouver.

Are there any other guitarist/bassists out there in BBS land? I'd really
like to see some activity in this echo.

    Look forward to chatting,
    Jesse Lawrence (jlawr)

    welcome to the echo, jesse!

years and years ago, in my early teens, we used to skip school and go to a friend's house where he had a room with instruments and a small PA... sometimes
i'd pick up the sticks and try to keep a decent beat on the drums (four uprights, a bass, and at least 4 different cymbal sets) while other times i might grab one of the guitars or basses and goof around with them...

we were all just messing around but several of the guys were pretty good and helpful in offering some suggestions on the various instruments... i was, however, mostly into keyboards and the winds... bugle (in the scouts), trumpet,
sax, and my sister's flute (which she hated when i'd pick it up and play something that she was having troubles with)... i was only formally trained on the piano, trumpet, and sax but only for about six to eight years or so...

i'm sure there are... the trick is getting them to join the area and start writing messages ;)

    welcome to the echo, jesse!

Thank you kindly! Glad to be here :) I'll try to respond a little more quickly and maybe we can generate some discussion here.

Sounds like you guys had lots of fun. I used to do similar things with my time when I was in (or rather supposed to be in!) highschool.

Ah, the plight of the enthusiastic sysop ;) "This is really great, but where is everybody?"

Maybe I'll start reporting my musical/bassist exploits here. I'm currently starting to look for other musicians to play with, and get into some gigging. Wish me luck!

    Cheers,

Guys! Maybe we should try to record some "transcontinental fido.net jam"? It could be fun! What say you?
I play bass, guitar. Drums, also, could be sampled on pc...
    Maybe somebody will sing something...
