• Include File intol CFG

    From Kevin Miller@1:267/585.1 to All on Tue Feb 16 12:03:00 2021
    Greets...

    I'm still going through the docs covering the config file but there is one option I haven't come across and wondering if one exists.

    Unfortunately, Mystic isn't one of the supported BBSes but it is able to export an areas file in the GoldEd format.

    My question: Is there an option to include a general areas file into the config during runtime or will I have to cut-n-paste the areas directly
    into the config.

    Thx,

    Yes, the config option is:

    INCLUDE <file-to-include>

    ;)

    Of course it is! I'll try to refrain from further stupid questions... but this is a big commit :)

    In the unlikely (?) event the file you're reading is in AREA.BBS format you'll need to use:

    AREAFILE AreasBBS c:\path\to\areas.bbs

    ;AREAFILE AreasBBS r:\hudson\areas.bbs ; == AREAFILE Areas_BBS

    It's a concept question. This "include <ascii config>" allows many settings with imported and hard nailed local settings. For example local echos that golded knows but the BBS has no clue that they exist.

    Just write your own areaslocal.cfg and include it via the include keyword.

    Everything is possible but keep in mind that some included keywords are overwriting an already existing one. That's why the sequence of includes is important.

    Regards

    Kai
