How do I install syncterm on ubuntu from command line?
I tried "sudo apt-get install syncterm", but it couldn't find the package.
You can compile it yourself. I typically use these instructions on a new build:

SyncTERM can be run in a few modes, most of them are technically "graphics" modes.

Is there some bbs client that can run in text only mode and display ANSI?

I installed SyncTERM. Then I ctrl-d and typed "bbs.synchro.net" in the bar. It stayed at "connecting" and when I hit ESC it returned to the main menu and froze.
