I had some context in mind, but I failed to include it for fear of someone biting me.
Now that I have stitched up my disassebled T60 from about a
monthe ago (to replace the fan and re-apply thermal grease for
the CPU/heatsink) ..and have my favourite working environment
back again, I might.
So you got it fixed successfully? Congratulations.

I have 2 screws left over which I am very sure are supposed to bolt
down the keyboard and palm rest, but they seem to be too short and
don't "bite" anything so that I can screw them down. I'm very sure I
have the keyboard/palmrest resting down as far as they can go.
The machine runs really cool now. I used to be able feel very hot air being blown out. Now it is barely warm.
