    Hello,

My name is Joseph Larsen. I was wondering if I could apply for my own FidoNet node number. I'm currently using a point off of Nicholas Boel's machine. My own node number would be preferred.

    Thank you,
    Joseph Larsen

    Joe,

There's a few things you need to understand first. Go to: http://www.filegate.net/zone1/how-to-join.html

On that page there is a link to Policy4 and also a link for an application. Read P4 first so you understand the basics of Fido and then you should be able to skillfully navigate the the application process.

Where are you located? Maybe if you send a netmail to the NC of your area, you would get a node number faster.

He tried that Robert... but he used the NC's address as the To; address here. Never sent netmail. That's why I told him to go Jnis' route over on filegate.net.

Well, I've been working with Joseph for the last few days, and even
called in the troups to help since I don't use HPT and there may be something I missed in the configs.... Sadly so far no one has been able
to make Joseph's netmail get to me from his temporary node number of 1:340/9999. When his netmail comes in it's addressed to 1:0/0.. which then gets routed to my default Z1 site, Bob Seaborn which then gets
    routed to 1:340/0, etc. Ouch.

I fixed some problems where he had his netmail area as an echomail
area, and Eric Renfro found a bad path in his setup.. but possibly
there are some weird problem with Joseph's bbs software (Inequity).
He's running BinkD with that and his config for BinkD looks fine... for some reason though his netmail messages to me are always addressed to 1:0/0 ... doesn't work <grin>

Outside of a blatant typo (which I doubt) perhaps this could be caused
by a blank filled in some setup file or in an inequity setup file or a
bug in Inequity? just guessing because nothing else makes sense.

Ok all of you trouble shooters are invited to help :) :)

    His email:

    ignatius3399@gmail.com

I would bet he's having the same issue I was having with MakeNL. Could it be there needs to be added an INTL kludge? I am not familiar with Inequity but I'll forward this to Agoranet as I think someone there uses this software.
