    Hello Janis!

First speaking on Linux setup, then sucks it to install a new linux with the linux kernel of the latest sources for kernel 2.6.38 with dev modules, why it don't work when compile kernel 2.6.28 and compile kernel with the /dev modules gives over 50 errors by compile the modules.

The secund is that by Tuesday the 14. June in next week is my system going to be down while I then change from adsl to xdsl and to better cables and central uplinking, and Ip adresses is change too so Ihave both to change it on my hostname provider and on my router(s).

    Take care,
    Gert

    Ouch that sounds painful.

Ok.. let us know when that's set.

The problem is not a local error on my site only, but a internal gentoo stage3 and portage error and i have looked into gentoo bugzilla (bugs.gentoo) and too
wrote of and been directed to 2-3 reports with that errors, and the reply for it to on how handle it, and 3 guys wrote that should be in handbook on how manage this problem and so the installation told on how to do to make it works for new gentoo install with kernel 2.6.38 and the last 3 stage3 files and portage files.

Yes I will se how it goes the 14. June when the service man from my isp has been here and the new connection is for by him and the new hardware, last time I got something change like this took i 2-3 day before him to make it work right as it should.

    Take care,
    Gert

ssh home.kofobbs.dk works, but password is not set or set to another one i dont
know, so when can i help ?

On the new install off gentoo is it some dev there not is working, but this is now paused on work on this until the main system is working and here is there more problems, that only from outside can the hostnames be seen and usded, my local computer is not see the routers hostname and only with its ip adressing. It is like named not talk with the world outside and get the time and date right for ntp and ntpd.

password should be setup as it always is if not then chould i not self as root could do it.

if you can get hold of one small harddisk UNDER 1G limit then let me know, your
router does not need big sizsed harddisks at all, seak for a small ssd that fly
under the GigaByte limit, when done, google for pfsense !
