• FE 1.46pl1 Error

From robert wolfe@1:116/18 to All on Sat Dec 30 18:14:26 2017
    Hi all!

Installed the OS/2 version of FastEcho and updated it. I copied all of the
DLL files to \OS2\DLL (running ArcaOS 5.0.1 Professional) and when I run FESETUP2.EXE, I get the following error:

    Error Initializing Message Subsystem!!
    Exiting with error code 64

I have never previously gotten this error message when I had the software installed before, but now for the life of me I cannot figure out what is causing this error.

Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

It's a valid FE code of some sort. I use the 16-bit DOS flavour and that program segment is there as well in FEsetup/DOS. It seems to be tied with establishing OS resources, and isn't happy with what OS/2 is saying it's providing. RAM amount(s)/type or disk format/size?

    Good luck...

    Cheers,
    Paul.

I don't really know what differences are between the two VMs as I
pretty much have the same parameters set up for both -- with the exception
that this is being run under VMWare Workstation Pro 14.x and the other was under VirtualBox.

Ahmm... I'm biased. This VirtualBox VM has been running for nigh on six years,
mostly 24/7x365 except for short term breakages. Also, I haven't seen anything
running OS/2 for over 26 years.

Maybe the man, Mark, can help you? Good luck!

    Cheers,
    Paul.

What "all of the DLL files"? I only have one: msgapi32.dll and it is located in
    the FE main dir.

Check your system if you have more msgapi32.dll's than the one FE needs.

    D:\fastecho>dir *dll

    Directory of D:\fastecho\*dll

    27.10.98 20.57 65 564 0 MSGAPI32.DLL

I have not copied it anywhere, I run fastech2.exe always from the d:\fastecho dir.

Hopefully. Myself, I use ArcaOS 5.0.1 Pro here and it works very well for
what I need it to do (like doing BBSing *smiles*).

Ok, and it seems that fesetup2.exe does not need the .dll.

Are you sure you have the original intact executable from FE146P.RAR?
