.. and 'lemme tell ya. It's a ride. I finally got Frontdoor working
properly under Windows and now got two hubs I connect to
for Fidonet and Usenet. Very nice success.

But - to read all this goodieness I had to have some
nice software. So, after some serious digging I finally
got hold of the executables for a Swedish BBS system
from the 90's, modestly named The Perfect Conference
System (TPCS) written by two old friends of mine.

Turns out TPCS wasn't ready for Y2K and even
though the source code is still around my two friends
had no means to actually compile it, nor the time to get
all the old software to do so. So thanks to another
friend, TPCS is now Y2K compatible since he simply
    patched the executables.

    Smart people are scary.

Anyway - this is my second Fidonet node but my first
Frontdoor node for at least 20 years and it's great to
help my friend Joaquim in a very small way in his
efforts to get the ball running again with Frontdoor development.

Just curious to see what kind of progress you've made so far :) I may find myself reinstalling FD/2mL since I lost my BBS VM recently do to a virus on
    my desktop.

I met with JoHo yesterday and as I understand it 1/3 of the code is ported to Linux but FreePascal is putting up a fight. Is that a reasonable summary, Joaquim?

Progress is being made, albeit a bit too slow for my own liking. But there is that silly thing called life that sometimes must be attended to.

    Sounds about right.

The amount of code ported, however, does not reflect time.

    But, it shall be done.

So very, very true. My husband and I are moving into our new apartment this weekend, and we probably won't be fiinished with it all until Thursday when I can get some time off to remove things from the other apartment.
