I guess I answered my own question about the beta. <G> It's YOUR board I telneted to. Now, I don't remember my password! Sigh! Go ahead and erase my account and I'll make a new one someday. :(

But, I DO want to know what is new in BETA 2 of 2.33 if you can share! <G>

IIRC, the news bulletin(s) carry an email address for contacting me... send some authentication info and a new password via email and i'll fix that password right up... otherwise, yeah, i can erase it and let you create it again...

    Nevermind, I remembered it. ;)

i can share that it is an old beta... unfortunately, i'm still under non-disclosure for a bit longer...

Any work being DONE with FD? Every email but defsol@defsol.se bounces back undelieverable. Everyone listed as a contact point for sales, doesn't deal with DefSol anymore. The FTP site is gone ... any ideas?!

my non-disclosure contract is up five (5) years after i've been released from the beta team... the only questions i can fathom at this time is if the beta team has been released and at what date/time that release was effective...

with regard to the beta that is operating on my system, it is a beta that the team tested and ran before the release of the base version (ie: 2.33 beta 2 is the second beta of version 2.33)... i've not seen any need to update further since this version was installed... i probably should, though... however, there's also that "status" and the "excitement" one gets knowing that others are seeing a beta in operation ;)

Anything related to FD would be great now-a-days. The main issue is with the Z-Modem transfers via Win32 telnet ... under OS/2 and VMODEM it worked great! With Win32 I can receive 98% of the time .. but sending I can sent 2% of the time and 98% of the time it just resends from zero over and over and over.

i know that feeling about eCS... but i'm not sure i really understand about hunting for drivers... i don't think that i've actually done much of adding
or removing stuff that i had to find drivers for... i used to use the SCSI
port on a soundblaster card but when i swapped out motherboards, the new one had SCSI built in... then i also had to swap out the video but i used
another ATI card that just happened to use the same drivers as the previous one... other than that, possibly a NIC at one time or another... actually,
now that i think about it, that NIC is still the original Intel EtherExpress
16 card that i put in the original box back during my DESQview days ;)

but then again, once i got the second machine, the bbs box was basically nothing more than that... the bbs... all my games and everything else got
moved over to the new box... so i didn't have any more wierdness happening
on the bbs and i wasn't knocking it over like had been being done...
everything got a whole lot stabler...

Constant resending a file and never completing it. The file would resend, resend, resend (retry), until it timed out. Had to have the user delete the msg packet so we could transfer mail again. Just think ZMODEM needs optimized to run under Win32 a bit. Always worked GREAT under OS/2 tho.

    2.33.mL

    6. describe the actual problem you are seeing.

As I stated, on some packets, fd would resend from ZERO (0 bytes), 18-20 times over and over and not be able to complete the connection until it finally timed out and failed. Thus it would try to send and/or receive (depending which way it wouldn't transfer), over and over and over and over. Thus forcing me to get a hold of my unlink to kill the packet or if it's on this end, kill the packet here.

    7. post log snippets showing problem.

Don't use FD to transfer anymore because of the above, so I have no such log files any longer.

all i/we can do is try to help...

i think you should have it, then... dunno what could be the problem... like said before, i only saw problems like that on congested/slow pipes...

My other issue is the IP address being trucated ie:

199.99.999.99 would show up in the DOBBSx.BAT file as 1999999999.

I am using NetSerial/NetFOSS (Contacted Mike @ PCMicro Already), but being you're running a beta, maybe you can see something.

Whenever I answer FD via terminal mode, the IP displays PERFECTLY. But once I have FD pass the information onto the DOBBSx.BAT file to load the BBS here is what I get.

    EXEBBS 115200 2 10080 1 /ARQ/7125343200 N/A

Which under ALT-J (Terminal mode from WFC), it would show as 71.253.43.200 whenever I answered the "RING" ....

I never really paid much attention when I was using OS/2 and SIO, so I'm not sure if it worked then or not.

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! Or some help from JoHo or Mats. Or at very least them being notified on the problem.

    Thanks!

... You remind me of myself, confused and hungover...

i got it the first time you posted it...

i don't know why it would be being written to the dobbs file like that... everything that i see here seems to show that FD writes the connecting number as it received it from the "modem device"... my USRs send caller id data preformatted and my telnet shim also writes IP numbers formatted with the dots in the proper places... FD, as far as i can see, doesn't unformat them :?

    I paid for v2.20c, upgraded to 2.30, then 2.31, 2.32,
    and to 2.33 ... I paid
for the 2.12.SW (which was 2.11 at the time), and then
    also paid the $$$ for
the multiline version which I am running now. If I didn't pay for FD, I wouldn't even bother using it now-a-days.

    Heh, Heh.

The moral of the story is, never pay for anything.

    Except maybe Netserial.

Paid for that as well ... well worth the money also.

    256 IIRC. I only use 1 - 4 ... so I never really paid much notice.
