The same error may or may not mean the same root cause.

    I would recommend you:

    a) Post your log snippet showing the lines before and after the error message b) Post the associated wcMail.log entries (if any)
    c) Indicate whether you are processing just ordinary email or email + UUCP/Newsgroup

    Things to check and try:

    a) Run wcRepair
    b) Run a chkdsk /f
    c) Make sure your OS R+W Permissions to directories etc are correct
    d) Temporarily disable any Anti-Virus Programs (especially Grisofts AVG)
    e) Temporarily disable any third party DyDNS / No IP Software clients

    Most importantly:

    f) Take a close look at your

wcCONFIG -> Mail Server -> Primary Domain - DefaultHost

config. Pay particular attention to the domain name and Spool path
settings especially whether or not the specified SPOOL path is accessible.

In short the more log / info you can provide to Hector the better the
chance he will be able to assist you.

    thanks Mike.

    got the issue resolved.

under mail configuration the HOSTS section had an empty first record and
then my domain information on the second line. After removing the empty
line I was able to start up wcmail.

    thanks again
