• Impeach the President

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to Bob Klahn on Wed Nov 12 00:11:44 2014
    Hello Bob,

According to the latest poll, this one by
CNN, 57% of Republicans favor impeaching
President Barack Obama, while 33% of all
    Americans favor impeachment.

Since Republicans now control both the
House and the Senate, Republican politicians
are openly talking about doing just that.
Not as an idle threat, but making it a reality.

Are Republicans insane? Are the American people
insane? Are our elected officials insane?

Richard Nixon resigned from office in disgrace.
But he was never impeached. Nor was he forcibly
    removed from office.

Democrats knew better than to impeach an unpopular
president, and sure hated to see him leave the White
House when he did. But even so, Democrats still won
68 Senate seats and almost 2/3rds of the House, along
with the Presidency in 1976. In fact, due to Nixon's
unpopularity, Democrats controlled both the Senate
and the House for the ehtire Carter presidency.

The fact of the matter is that good things happen for
the American people when Democrats control everything -

FDR, JFK, LBJ, Jimmy Carter (entire terms in office)
Harry Truman, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama (partial terms in office)

Those were the best of times.

On the other side of the coin, bad things happen for
the American people when Republicans control everything -

Herbert Hoover, George W. Bush ...

Those were the worst of times.

    How quickly people forget.

    The economic crash of 2007.
    The ineptitude of Katrina.
    The invasion of Iraq.
    The invasion of Afghanistan.
    The events of 9-11.
    The squandering of the surplus.

That is the legacy of George W. Bush.

You want to know why folks continue
to love and adore Bill Clinton?

The creation of 22 million new jobs
    during the Clinton Administration.

That is just one of the many reasons.

Bill Clinton. Left office with the highest approval
rating in history, even higher than Ronald Reagan, the
dead man adored by Republicans as a living god.

In six years, the Obama Administration has managed the
creation of 6.8 million new jobs in the private sector.
Millions of working Americans have also been given the
opportunity to have health insurance for the first time
in their lives. All thanks to Obamacare.

How many new jobs were created under the Bush Administration?
Republicans are too embarrassed to say or admit.

"It's the economy, stupid!" - James Carville

That quote became Bill Clinton's campaign
battle cry against George H.W. Bush.

"It's still the economy, stupid!" - Lee Lofaso

That quote is what the future Democratic nominee
for president should use as his/her campaign battle
cry against Jeb Bush, the presumed Republican nominee
    for president in 2016.

Clinton vs. Bush. That is the presumed presidential
contest for 2016. But all the polls show Hillary Clinton
trouncing Jeb Bush and all other Republican wannabes.

So Republicans had to come up with a new game plan. What
is that new game plan? Impeach the president. With Barack
Obama impeached and removed from office, Joe Biden will be
sworn in as president. And there is no way that Democrats
will dump an incumbent president in favor of nominating a
    ditzy blonde ...

    Greetings Lee!

None of the above is true, that's just CNN for ya.

Are Republicans insane? Are the American people
insane? Are our elected officials insane?

If there's any insanity in DC, it's the liberal mindset.

Richard Nixon resigned from office in disgrace.
But he was never impeached. Nor was he forcibly
    removed from office.

    Duh!

Democrats knew better than to impeach an unpopular
    president,

Actually, Nixon resigned under duress from the liberal pressure from an impeachment threat if he didn't.

and sure hated to see him leave the White
House when he did. But even so, Democrats still won
68 Senate seats and almost 2/3rds of the House, along

unpopularity, Democrats controlled both the Senate
and the House for the ehtire Carter presidency.

The fact of the matter is that good things happen for

Not really. They're just stupid enough to believe that.

FDR, JFK, LBJ, Jimmy Carter (entire terms in office)
Harry Truman, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama (partial terms in office)

    All of them were/are crooks.

Those were the best of times.

For laughing it up with your conservative friends.

On the other side of the coin, bad things happen for
the American people when Republicans control everything -

Herbert Hoover, George W. Bush ...

LOL! At least they were honest.

Those were the worst of times.

    For sorry assed liberals.

    How quickly people forget.

    The economic crash of 2007.

Happened in 2008 with reality setting in that the O'bama would be elected
    Prez that year.

    The ineptitude of Katrina.

Katrina was quite strong and displayed the reality of how liberals in
Louisiana were incapable of dealing with her.

    The invasion of Iraq.
    The invasion of Afghanistan.
    The events of 9-11.

Wrong order. 9-11 happened first. Then the other Hussein made the mistake
of bragging about his nuclear capability (yelow cake storage, etc.) and everyone believed him, to his own demise.

    The squandering of the surplus.

Happened on the other Hussein's watch.

That is the legacy of George W. Bush.

No, that is the legacy of what wall street saw in their tea cups.

You want to know why folks continue
to love and adore Bill Clinton?

They do? I never did and never will.

    True.

We could do better. With single payer. Obamacare is not
universal health care, even though Republicans would like
folks to believe otherwise. Obamacare is not single payer,
which is something far different. Obamacare is more like
Romneycare on steroids rather than anything else. But
still better than what we had before, which clearly was
    not working.

"It's the economy, stupid!" - James Carville

I was hoping Joe Biden would resign as vice president

Republicans almost pulled it off, with Gerald Ford losing a
very close race to Jimmy Carter.

That was back in 1976, when politicians still had brains.

to run for a third consecutive term. If Bill Clinton would have

    W. Bush, and there would have been no 9-11.

We all know what happened next. Al Gore won the presidency,
but was never allowed to hold his properly elected office.

Why would he want to be humiliated by the defeat he would surely face?

Republicans are blaming it all on Clinton. I am not making

they put the blame squarely on Clinton.

Hillary Rodham Clinton. She was the brains behind getting rid
of Richard M. Nixon. And now Republicans want their revenge.

about impeaching the guy or removing him from office. And
to think Republicans almost pulled it off, with Gerald Ford
losing a very close race to Jimmy Carter.

I blame the pardon for that.

Gerald Ford made a deal with Rihard Nixon in order to become
Vice President. We all know what that deal was. Upon becoming
President, Ford was to grant Nixon a full pardon for all crimes
committed. Which is exactly what Ford did.

Why would Ford do Nixon's bidding? After all, Ford was the
president, and Nixon a mere private citizen?

Richard Nixon had some dirt on Gerald Ford. He would not have
appointed Ford as vice president unless he had an insurance card.
If President Ford would have refused to grant Richard Nixon a
pardon, Nixon would have spilled the beans and dragged Ford down
with him, the both of them spending quality time at a federal
    vacation home.

President Ford's mistake was telling the American people that
he had not made a deal with Nixon.

You see, the American people would have gotten mad at him,
but plainly understood, if Ford had said he made a deal with
Nixon so that he could become President. Whether it was true
or not was irrelevant. It is what the American people would
have believed. Not the bullshit story about granting Nixon
a pardon because it was the right thing to do.

When Nixon resigned from office, people were still talking
about Nixon. Nobody cared about Ford. Nobody was talking
about Ford as president or anything else. It was all about
    Nixon, and only Nixon.

President Ford had to do something to change the subject.
To do that, he had two choices -

    * He could have Nixon shot by firing squad
    * He could pardon Nixon

Not wanting to look like a tinhorn dictator, Ford chose
    to pardon Nixon.

That was back in 1976, when politicians still had brains.

Oh, you already made that point.

Except for Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms.
But they were born that way, kind of like Lady GaGa.

Fast forward to 2000, the beginning of the end of politics.

I think the Nixon pardon was. It was the start on the downhill
    slope.

Richard Nixon was a terrible president. Gerald Ford was not much
better, given the number of times he used the veto pen. Jimmy Carter
was an exceptional leader, having a higher percentage of legislation
passed than any president in history, including LBJ. Ronald Reagan
was a decent actor, a popular president, but did not accomplish much
of anything during his time in office. Bush41 sought to bring about
a "New World Order" by creating the first tv war in a desert kingdom.
Bill Clinton was the most beloved president of our times, getting
along with members of both parties in Congress, and leaving office
with the highest popularity rating in American history. Bush43
managed to mangle the English language in ways unimaginable, and
is best forgotten. Barack Obama is the black man's best friend,
and the black man's worst enemy, depending on which version of
black history you want to believe.

And then there is Hillary Rodham Clinton. The 45th President
    of the United States ...

Republicans had impeached, but not removed from office)
President Clinton, who was already barred by the
Constitution from being able to run for a third consecutive
term. If Bill Clinton would have had any brains, he would
    have resigned from office.

He should have finished at least 2 yrs of his second term, but I
don't think resigning would have done that much good, and it
would have encouraged the right to do that over and over.

On second thought, Bill Clinton should have run for a third
consecutive term, the 22nd Amendement be damned ...

    President Gore would easily
have defeated the Republican upstart, George W. Bush, and
there would have been no 9-11.

The first part is questionable, but surely possible, the second
could very well have been true.

There are rumors that brother Jeb set charges in the WTC Towers
which is the real reason they came tumbling down. Or maybe it was
brother Neil. Sometimes those conspiracy theories get confusing ...

We all know what happened next. Al Gore won the presidency,
but was never allowed to hold his properly elected office.

Yep. Which could possibly be the fatal blow to this country.

Nah. Al Gore says it will be abrupt climate change (global
warming). And he might very well be right. I cannot imagine
Republicans ever running out of hot air. Can you?

Joe Biden has been involved in 67 political races.
As far as I know, Joe Biden remains undefeated, and

That was back in the days when we had decent republicans.

    newspaper, but after that...

    Bush43 managed to mangle the
English language in ways unimaginable, and is best
    forgotten.

Not until he goes to prison.

Barack Obama is the black man's best friend,
and the black man's worst enemy, depending on which version
of black history you want to believe.

As well as the best candidate we have had on either side in the
    last two presidential elections.

To many that's damning with faint praise, and considering his
    opponents, I can't say it isn't.

And then there is Hillary Rodham Clinton. The 45th
President of the United States ...

Hillary or any republican will likely go down in history as the
    last president of the US.

    ...

He should have finished at least 2 yrs of his second term, but I
don't think resigning would have done that much good, and it
would have encouraged the right to do that over and over.

On second thought, Bill Clinton should have run for a third
consecutive term, the 22nd Amendement be damned ...

Nah, that would be overstaying his welcome. Always leave them
wanting more. As a musician you should know that.

    President Gore would easily
have defeated the Republican upstart, George W. Bush, and
there would have been no 9-11.

The first part is questionable, but surely possible, the second
could very well have been true.

There are rumors that brother Jeb set charges in the WTC
Towers which is the real reason they came tumbling down.
Or maybe it was brother Neil. Sometimes those conspiracy
    theories get confusing ...

None of the above. They didn't need to, they were just so
incompetent that the would never pull it off, and too stupid to
    prevent it.

We all know what happened next. Al Gore won the presidency,
but was never allowed to hold his properly elected office.

Yep. Which could possibly be the fatal blow to this country.

Nah. Al Gore says it will be abrupt climate change (global
warming). And he might very well be right. I cannot
imagine Republicans ever running out of hot air. Can you?

Well, this country may fall long before climate change brings it
down. One more republican president, either Romney or Jeb, could
    insure that.

Climate change will do the rest in the long run, unless it is
reversed by the drastic reduction in use of fossile fuel due to
the collapse of the world's economy under Mitt or Jeb.

    ...

He also suffers from foot in mouth disease. Sad.

All the more reason for Republicans NOT to impeach Obama ...

All the more reason for Republicans to try to get rid of Obama.
Obama is far more competent than any of his presumed successors.
