• Update parameters

    From Ben Ritchey@1:1/21 to All on Sun Sep 10 20:03:14 2017
    Hi All,

    As of Elist v4.2.F (today) Updates can be done by specifying only the TAGname and PASSword data. This does not apply to ADDitions (MOD UPD only).

    Another feature available is a quick summary of the original submission at the end of each Update Report (with PW masking). This is currently used only for local testing but could easily be added to production updates if desired. Feedback welcome here :) let me know if you (do/don't) want this feature!

    Thanks Ben.

    I'm mixed in my view about the merits of showing this or not. Upside is that
    it shows the syntax of the file submitted by the person sending updates etc.
    to the BOT and that may be helpful for some to view and understand etc. Downside is it's just extra to view and does it really add value? Just not sure. But if it's not a biggie to leave it in, and passwords are masked in a way that no one can tell what the password is, then it's probably worth retaining.

    Hope that meandering thinking helped :)

    Best, Paul

    i'm kinda with you, paul... something else, though, that would be good is to mash the email addresses... there're still way too many email address harvesters out there... i thin i would mask the email addresses so that their first maybe three characters remain, the rest to the @ are dots and then the domain...

    eg: some.user@invalid => som...@invalid

    or something like that... similar to that seen on forum web sites and comment areas on blogs...
