Looking over DB, once again, I had it up and running a few years back... I should have kept the running copy I had.

I don't have a nodelist, do I need one?? Say no please....

I want to poll my hub via binkp and it doesn't seem to want to do it.

I see something in the queue but it says hold/unlisted ...

    Thanx

If the file DBNL.AUT is created, the mailer will use this. For example:

    ,1:229/107,The_Cube_BBS,Ottawa_ON,Wayne_Robinson,-Unpublished-,9600,CM,XX

Yes, a 4D address is present in the line of text.

Other forms of binkd mailers alow files to be sent by creating a directory, linking it to a node address and it'll send out what is in that directory to that node....

FD calls it a static queue... mail tossers, a few of them anyway, can toss files directly to a DIR to send files out... I guess this would have been good during the FTP/Mail days. I think BinkD does it and I know Internet rex does it.

I just drop a file, any file, in the defined direectory and off it goes.

    I think I understand.

BinkD does use the concept of "mailboxes", but, I have tried very hard to integrate this into the mailer in a way to avoid confusion for everyone. The reason is because the D'Bridge queue is Dynamic. That means, it does not use directories but a combination of text-based Queue files, packets and
compressed mail (XMAIL). The directories/mailboxes in BinkD are unique and in Base36 format. I do not recommend dropping files into those directories.

You can send files to another systme using the DBUTIL [priority] SEND command. For example, DBUTIL NORMAL SEND 1:229/426 C:\FOR-NICK.ZIP would send that file to my system. When the mailer runs, it builds a dynamic entry for 229/426 and when the transaction is made, the file is moved to the appropriate Binkd directory (or send via dialup). The end-user need not worry about what directories are what.

All Guinness sold in the UK as far as I know comes from Ireland and has seen Park Royal closed in the late 80's or early 90's.

When delivering newspapers to Dublin I used to bring back a keg or two for my local pub. That is a plane full of newspapers !

Yes. You can change everything globally by dumping the config to a text file, use a text editor to make whatever changes, and import it back.

    ie.

    DB EXPORT IBJOE.CFG

    DB IMPORT IBJOE.CFG

If global-changes need to be done while D'Bridge is running, you can use the DBUTIL CHANGE commands.

ie. DBUTIL CHANGE GROUPACCESS A FORWARDTO 10:1/0 10:1/1

..... Will change all group "A" Echomail areas to link to 10:1/0 and 1/1.

I may have gone past the point of no return... and in doing so I have 100's of MSG files in my DB directory.

My goal, and not my original one, is to set DB up. Have DB import the the backbone.na file as pass-through, that will change latter, I want to have 229/426 as my up-link and 201 as my down-link... This is all going to happen off my 200 address.

Is this possible without absolutely sucking the life out of me??

I can do my FD/FastEcho combo... or FMail because I like asking Wilfred questions.

Nick... I have a few questions before I go to plan Q.

Okay... for the most part your areas.bbs idea worked... It did so but had all the mail areas toggled as hold... I know I can do the export thing and change that...

BTW, 100s of MSG files were in the \DB\ directory.

I did a test after I did all this areas.bbs stuff... And after I poll to your system, my system auto created 4 areas... One of them was FIDOTEST... What NA file doesn't have FIDOTEST... That area has been around since the 70's ... it would have been the 1st area EVER made when creating FidoNET...

Anyway, at this point I don't care about the pass-through idea. Back to DB auto populating the areas. When I received mail form you and DB created the area it only showed your address in the export field. If I sent mail from 201 to 200 and DB auto created the area it only showed 201 in the export field and not yours.

Can I get DB to auto populate areas and have DB show 229/426 and 342/201 on the export field... If new mail is received, in an unknown area, DB will create the area. Have those 2 address on the export list and send that message to the address that didn't send it.

I know how to do this with FastEcho....

All this and I actually have mail users on my BBS so I can't mess mail delivery up.
