    Hi!

That's amazing! My first PC computer 36 years ago was one. Does yours have
a "Turbo" button to switch between standard 4,77 Mhz and a higher rate?
What model and make is it? Mighty my, I remember I even tried Windows/286
at the time, although there was not really much use for it.

    Best regards
    Tobias

My first was an 8088. No HD but dual floppies! Terbo was was 4.77megahurtz ;-). Screaming speed daemon of the day with a USR 300baud modem! Only light was a lit USR emblem on the front. Ran the first Shenk's Express on it but not part of Fidonet. mid-1980's. Chat me to swap from game floppy to down load floppy.

I'm sure I'm not alone in having thrown out tons of old hardware over
the years. I moved every couple of years in my 20s and 30s, and when
living in an apartment, storage space is at a premium.

I can think of at least 6 computers I tossed over the years because of
lack of storage and obsolescence, that, if I knew they would have come
back in style, would have kept.

An Osborne 1. Compaq Portable II. An IBM PC XT - the real thing, with
IBM keyboard and monitor. A 486/50 local bus system. Pentium Pro 200.
    All gone.

It's not that they're "back in style" I think. It's just that some people are hoarders, so they appeared to consciously make hoarding obsolete hardware their hobby. The truth is it's hard to be a hoarder if you don't have a spacious basement. :-)

    Hi Michael,

"still" is not the right term. I recently returned.

I am still evaluating whether resuming developing is worthwile. I must say that together with quitting Fidonet some years after I got married, I also quit developing. I am a patent attorny nowadays. Of course, C is still my second mother tongue ;), but I would have to make quite an effort to get
    back on boat.

Of course, If I should decide to set up my own node once more, it will be Husky and it won't be long until I will be submitting some bug fix or
    other as need arises ;).

    Best regards,
    Tobias
