Run Binkley on Linux for the Zimbabwe point, and it works great,
don't do Max here, but I used Squish (Linux) and it worked well
enough during the short time I did use it.
Max, I never tried, as I run MBSE BBS and am very happy with it, ask
in the Muffin echo you might get some help there ...
FIrst, hope you received my routed netmail on another subject sent

THought I"d pick some brains over there. I've heard mixed reviews re:
max for linux, but think I'll revisit the topic over that way here eventually.
LIke my dos screen reader about best of anything else in the screen
acces for the blind dept. and would like to continue using it. YEt, reliability of the bbs is a real priority.

Do you need a BBS, or would a mail only system work for you?

THat could work, but a telnet available bbs is sure an idea for what
I"m trying to do with this. NOte the origin line.
I'm the operations manager for this group, sort of an ad hoc group of radio operators who banded together. Eventually I"ll take over the
domain possibly, or a link to the system for radiorescue.net which
just has some informational pages now. Hence a human interactive bbs
is part of what we're hoping to do.
nEtmail to you resent, on its way out with this message.
OTherwise I might just do the transex thing as well, but may have
other uses for transex as a mailing list manager.

Okay ...
Well, that might work, for a BBS I use MBSE BBS, been using it since
ver. 0.18, and it is now at ver. 0.95, with the GoldEd sysops
editor on Linux, want to do a fresh setup, as the current one has
come along with a great many upgrades/updates since then, and I
feel it is time to do a "clean" install, but am very happy with it,
and it gives a very nice telnet BBS as part of the package, and is
still being developed
Was main reason for getting back into fido in fact. USed to do
fidonet bbs that was quite popular among the residents in southeastern IOwa back in the middle '90's.
I've heard of that. I really like maximus for its text file configuration, a big priority with me. DOn't really intend to switch
if I can avoid it. Max 3.x has some other features I want to
implement as well once we're telnet available.

Well, I have just setup MBSE BBS here, to make it accessable via news reader, and am now using PAN to post here, this seems to work fine ...
, just need to add a signature block I think.
Well I ran Maximus on OS/2 for many a year, then for a period of
time used the Husky Utils, and when I needed a BBS again, I was on
Linux, and the only package that delivereed, was MBSE, so I moved,
and have not regreted it since. It has come a long way since
version 0.17/18 when I started using it, and the current version
0.95. Had a few callers, and might again, and reliability is
extremely good, it just keeps running, the only thing that stops it
tossing msgs. once in a while is when the HDD gets full, which
happens a little too often lately ... <sigh>
BTW, did you get my reply to your netmail?

There was something astray with your note's "To:" line in the header, Russell. Your note ended-up being from you to you. Eeek. ;-)
Cheers,

Yep, sounds like a bigger one's in order <g>.
BTW, did you get my reply to your netmail?
NOt yet, but if it went HOst routed the host for 1:116 is internet
only, and I'm pots only, so he has to do some gaming to route it to
me.
IF it went through Janis's system she might have pulled it out of the bunch to send direct when I poll her. Haven't done that yet this
morning.
Got it, and responded. WAs waiting for me with morning coffee <g>. RT> Cannot now remember, which system it routed thru, Bob Seaborn orBTW, did you get my reply to your netmail?
