It would have been great to read
Richard when this was On-Topic and we had Ruurd Beerstra hanging around
in the now defunct `FdN_DOS-INet' echo, nonetheless! :)

I think I was asking in there (with help from him) shortly after Ruard
    was there... IIRC...

Please, express a warm Thank You to your relative (brother, son or husband?)!...

Hubby... :) I passed along your thanks, and as well let him read your
    message to me... :)

If only i could locate records on the ~WEB~, for the period
between August 2001 and January 2002, in this given case! I guess you were. :)

According to my saved messages, I was actively there in Nov 01.

Euh... Sorry to insist over this but i wish to use the
opportunity to remind everyone that, neither of `WildCat!' (Hector
Santos) or `BBBS' (Kim Heino) are, euh... recommended for `Kermit' support, and much less over ~TelNet~ at that! %-b, Both are ARCHAIC pre-1985 implementations.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Be that as it may, the (probably archaic) version of kermit I was using
worked just fine in Wildcat 4 and* 5, giving me the option I otherwise
didn't have, to upload, when I moved to telnet rather than dialup.
Softwares that didn't even have the kermit option didn't give me any*
    way to do uploads.

Have you setup gkermit on your board? It's pretty simple. http://synchro.net/docs/kermit.txt :-)

How is gkermit different from vanilla kermit? Is it like Ymodem-G?

No, gkermit is the name of the program (as in "GNU Kermit"), not the protocol (which is still just "vanilla kermit").
