250 bucks. I am trying to get into bbsing a bit more as a renewed hobby
instead of playing MMOS which cost me 168 bucks a year. There is a package
deal that gives you the fidonet tosser with the software at that cost.

I had that. Problem is PX doesn't work. it will shit can your message
areas at random. For $250 you could have bought 6 raspberry pi's donated 5
of them and installed Mystic on the last one. :) Sorry Matt, I had to. hahaha

I get angry at Santronics for not supporting their software, and taking money.

(I'm off topic Sean, I will quietly go hide under my bed.)

I agree. It'd be nice to see more support for the people and projects that actually passionately support the BBS scene. :)

Here's the break down of a 16 node WinServer from their website:

    16-line WinServer $1495.99
1-year upgrade access (non major versions) $ 299.99
Platinum Xpress for FidoNet access $ 129.99
5 hours of support per year $ 300.00

Meh, run Synchronet or Mystic and toss $50 to their causes instead if you ask me. Synchronet is as integrated and Mystic isn't that far behind. These are the projects making strides to keep the BBS scene progressing and fun...

Yeah, I did read that they dont want to patch up PX. At worse I could
make a MysticBBS system and just run it as a private usenet type
    situation.

Since mailers are redundant in the age of BinkP, someone just needs to
make a tosser and tic processor only.

    Welcome to the Wildcat! family!

I also resubscribed for the WinServer 7. Everything worked fine until I
tried my 16bit doors. None of them worked. They all worked when I was
running WinServer on a Windows 2003 server, but I had installed the new WinServer onto a Windows 7/32bit computer. Long story short I had to
NetWork Wildcat using the Windows Server 2003 as a workstation. Then
ran wcOnline, and configured for my users to telnet into that server/workstation and now the games all work.

Apparently Santronics uses MicroSoft VDD to run these games, but
MicroSoft quit supporting VDD a long time ago. Any new OS starting I
think with Vista will not run your 16bit door games.

Apparently SSI has not revisted this issue since MicroSoft quit
    supporting VDD in its OS's.

Games do work now. But instead of going to rdfig.net:1024, if you want
to play the dos door games you telnet to wildcat.darktech.org on
standard port and then you can play the games.

    See ya later.

But who will work for free on that? ie: Let's say I wrote a tosser for
WINS that was modern and worked perfectly. I would put in... (James would be better then I at this) let's say 800 hours of time. For free. For a product the author still sells.

Doesn't make sense. You'll never have a modern tosser for that software Matt. Stick with wwiv. ;)

I still have my wwiv install, but i got annoyed that some of the
utilities i use were broken with some of the later builds. I think I
made two real eclectic purchases this year, but we all learn.
