Have never done any contesting... I'm only 'mobile' right
now, so haven't stopped to look into it, but might have
to do that... Espescially after I get a home rig set up.
    :-)

I'm not a contester either. Sure, I tried it, even did well in some local contest, but it's just not my thing. I prefer to compete in sport and use my radios to chat and tinker. Currently working on my ATV station. Got the new DVB-T receive system working, so I can see the local repeater, now to finish the transmitter chain, by testing the 30W PA and building a 5.8 GHz link so the camera can be more mobile than the main 23cm Tx. :)

    Great.

I received my LimeSDR ... but I have some issues with the SW and filtering. Changed the weekend house from DVB-T (has been deactivated here) to DVB-T2. Meaning I have a DVB-T decoder on my hands ...
When I gathered enough motivation I can try to transmit my own DVB-T stream to it.

I also played around with Osomocom-BB.
Reflashed a phone to have a menu, GSM phone, basestation light, rssi and EMI applications in flash.

Cool. :) I'm not sure what DVB-T variant we're using over here for broadcast TV (or ATV for that matter). :)

I usually game online with my son and high school friends on
Thursday night, but we had to cancel last night, so I was
able to make our monthly local HAM club meeting while my
    wife taught CPR.

Anyway - they are planning field day and having a meeting
tomorrow morning about it. I know that's a 'get together'
AND a contest - might get in on that this year...

Very cool! Keep us informed on how that goes!

I'm going to try and build a J-Pole or some other kind of dual band
indoor antenna... Will be my first 'workshop' item. :-)

Well, I seem to be down on power in the driver stage. Going to have to do some networking to borrow some 1.2 GHz test gear to track down the issue. Also likely going to have to build a better antenna, something like a loop Yagi.

Thank you! Talked to someone last night at the local meeting - he
sent me his plans for a desktop antenna he's had great results
with. It's called a Circular Polarized Folded Loop Antenna and
it's made from copper tubing. It's recomended to solder, but
can be screwed together as well.

If you want a copy of it I can share on Dropbox or Google
    or email directly to you.

Well, easist is for me to hit the forward button on his

We're enjoying our fire pit tonight - wife has been wanting
one & our kids got us one for Christmas. When I go in I'm
going to use my HT and a 'mag' antenna I was using in the
truck before I got a real mobile rig & antenna. Gonna see
if I can hit the closet repeater with it...
