• APARTMENTS AND HAMS

From Daryl Stout@1:19/33 to Allen Scofield on Sun Nov 15 04:31:00 2015

    Allen,

Such a shame that apartments aren't more "ham friendly". Being in an RF hol AS>certainly doesn't help either.

What's worse at my place, is that with most of the residents having medical devices (oxygen tanks, pacemakers, defibrillators, power wheelchairs, etc.), the law of entropy, and the fact that folks will file a lawsuit at the drop of a hat, I didn't want the liability of RF causing something bad to happen. With "VoIP operations", I can still work Packet Via Telnet, Echolink, D-Star, and D-Rats, and be on the air nightly.

However, with a forecast of severe weather and flooding Monday into Wednesday, I likely am going to be QRT...and the BBS will be down as well.

    I hear ya! Certainly don't need a lawsuit :(

Hopefully it won't be too bad. I've been watching it move east and it's been bad in TX and now in Louisiana. I'm in southern Alabama about 25 miles north of the FL panhandle and we're in the severe zone for tomorrow during the midday.

    Stay safe!

    Thanks!

In talking with a fellow ham radio operator, I told him that "next thing you know, farting in public will be a capital offense"...to which he quipped "If that was the case, I would've been under the jail long ago". :P

There was a lot of wind, rain, and lightning where I was at...and at least 4 apparent Doppler radar indicated tornadoes. Plus, quite a bit of damage occurred in Hot Springs...the National Weather Service in Little Rock is going to do a storm damage survey today, to see if it was a possible tornado, or just
straight line winds. Sometimes, those "weak" EF-0 tornadoes come and go so fast, that radar doesn't see them.

    Stay safe!

    You, too.
