Most conservatives are saying "it won't happen." But I predict that it can happen. Senate Republicans aren't going to take the trial lightly. They don't phone in their work. If they find the president guilty, he's going to be removed whether we like it or not.

What will that do to conservatives?
For me, I'll be dragging my friends and family to the polls by their ears.
But why? Because I'm out for revenge like the libs? Nope - because I care
about the health and safety of my family, and the Democrats are a threat to
    our well-being.

    Hello Aaron,

Do our liberal friends find Nancy's behavior amusing?

She is competent, unlike the clown who currently resides
in the White House. There is nothing most folks find funny
about having a clown in the White House. That is something
    liberals and conservatives agree on.

Let's suppose Trump gets removed from office, and they're already attacking
Pence too, suppose they remove him too. What's that gonna do for Democrats
    in the long run?

We all know what happened after Spiro Agnew and Richard Nixon resigned
from office in disgrace. Democrats swept the elections, retaining
majorities in both houses, and won the presidency. Only, after Pence
and Trump resign from office in disgrace, Nancy Pelosi will become
president without having been appointed or elected.

Most conservatives are saying "it won't happen."

Trump has serious health issues. Even if he is not convicted
and removed from office, it is questionable if he will remain president
for much longer. Pence does not have the kind of persona to win a
presidential election, so the Republicans would have to find somebody
else in order to have a chance of winning.

But I predict that it can happen.

The first rule of politics is to get elected. The second rule of
politics is to get re-elected. A politician has only his own selfish
interest in mind. That is how the world works, and always has.

Senate Republicans aren't going to take the trial lightly.

Moscow Mitch may talk big, as if he has the power to move heaven
and earth. But like all politicians, he has only his own selfish
interest in mind and will do what is best for Moscow Mitch.

Yes, politicians talk the talk. But rarely do they walk the walk.

They don't phone in their work.

The chief justice has been sworn in to preside over the trial.
Every Senator is obligated to take the same oath as jurors in order
to conduct the trial. Does that mean Justice Roberts will be fair?
Does that mean no Senators will be biased or prejudiced in regards
to their own personal views? Not at all. Each of them will do
whatever is in their own best interest, selfish as that may be.

If they find the president guilty, he's going to be removed whether we like
    it or not.

After being convicted and removed from office, he can win the
election in November to get his old job back. And then win a second
term in 2024. This would make him the second president to win three
    terms in office.

What will that do to conservatives?

Leaving office at age 86 would make every conservative proud.

For me, I'll be dragging my friends and family to the polls by their ears.
But why? Because I'm out for revenge like the libs? Nope - because I care about the health and safety of my family, and the Democrats are a threat to our well-being.

The main role of conservatives is to hold society together.
This has nothing to do with "Democrats" or "Republicans" or
any other political party. When the "glue" of conservatism
has become so weak or watered down as to become meaningless,
society will fall apart for having no cohesion.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was perhaps the last conservative
who held the office of the presidency. He saved society from
falling apart, as it had already begun to unravel due to the
    policies of his predecessors.

What we need today is another FDR to save us.

But nobody seems willing to step up to the plate.

    Well, almost nobody.

I love collecting pens. Don't you? Would have made a wonderful
addition to my collection. Although getting refills might have been
    a problem.

Trump does it too, to some extent. He acts silly during interviews once in a >while, but not during hearings, and especially not during hearings that are >important to his party.

Silly? Trump's mantra to "Make America Great Again" rings hollow when
using a pen made in China to sign bills. The pen he uses is a Cross
brand, specifically made for him by the company. All of its pens are manufactured in China.

It annoyed me, not because she's a liberal crowd-pleaser, but because I want
my elected officials to act their age at certain times.

Act their ages? Donald J. Trump is 74 years old, and often acts
as a small child. Nancy Pelosi is almost 80 years old, and often
acts far wiser than her age. Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are
youngsters compared to her, but neither of them served in the House.

The first rule of politics is to get elected. The second rule of

    You're probably right about that,

Until one is elected he or she can never be qualified.

but it's nice when we get one here & there who actually lifts a finger for
others once in a while too. (Others in their own country)

JFK tried to do that, and look what happened to him.

and earth. But like all politicians, he has only his own selfish >LL>interest in mind and will do what is best for Moscow Mitch.

What incentive does he have to help Trump?

Trump's threat is to primary those who dump on him. And those who
have tried to cross him have paid dearly for their actions. So they
    know he means the business.

If he (or any other senate members) act like their Trump's attorneys, then
they will be targeted by the media instantly, and by their voters too. We don't (intentionally) vote for corruption.

It is not the news media Republicans have to worry about.

If the Republican Senators stick by Trump, it will be a bloodbath
come November. Democrats will retain the House, and win the Senate.
Along with capturing the White House. Won't that be fun?

Does that mean no Senators will be biased or prejudiced in regards
to their own personal views? Not at all. Each of them will do >LL>whatever is in their own best interest, selfish as that may be.

Maybe Lindsey Graham, since he's so irritated by all this, and surely the
racial hatred in Corey & Kamala will shine through, but I trust that all
the other senators will be fair.

What is in their own best interest? To get themselves elected,
or re-elected. Not to bail out an incumbent president, even if
that president happens to be of the same party.

A Republican Senator, such as Lindsey Graham, might talk the talk.
But when push comes to shove, will he walk the walk? His own job
is on the line. Especially those who are up for re-election this
    November.

After being convicted and removed from office, he can win the
election in November to get his old job back. And then win a second >LL>term in 2024. This would make him the second president to win three >LL>terms in office.

You've given me something to smile about now! Thanks!

I have often wondered what would happen if a president dared
to run for a third consecutive term. How would the courts rule
on the matter, given the 22nd Amendment? My guess is the courts
would allow the people to decide, choosing not to get in the way.

I find it antidemocratic to disallow an individual from running
for public office due to term limits.

Perhaps Donald J. Trump will take a cue from Vladimir Putin and
change the Constitution to allow him to stay in office for an
unlimited number of terms. Imagine what it would be like for the
three amigos (Putin, Xi, and Trump) to be President-for-Life.

The main role of conservatives is to hold society together.

I respect what you're saying here,

Conservatism is not a political party, but a philosophy.
In a political context, it is meant as keeping the existing
society intact, the glue that keeps it together.

but for me, conservative means we defend our sovereignty and put our country
first, unlike my definition of liberalism which is in favor of world-government and/or sucking up to other states.

Two competing ideas are in conflict today -

    Liberalism
    Illiberalism

Liberalism grew out of the ashes of WWII.
With so many countries having been destroyed by war,
it was up to the US and former USSR to rebuild.
A Cold War followed for decades.

After liberalism took root, antibodies took root.
    The antibodies of illiberalism.
Today, those antibodies have gained strength,
    and remain on the rise.

    But all is not lost.
Joe Biden will save the world for liberalism.
He is the lord and savior of all.

Hey, he did say he would find a cure for cancer.

There is Amy. At 5'4", the cameras sometimes roll over her
head and people forget she is there.

Republicans and Democrats both tell lies from time to time, but the problem
I have with Democrats is that I've caught them in too many lies.

Oh, come now. Politicians never lie. They are just more
    expedient with the truth.

It's not just Obama, but just yesterday I caught my local assemblywoman
lying directly to me via email.

You don't understand. She is a professional, and knows what
she is doing. Remember, she got herself elected, and knows how
    to do it again.

She didn't have to reply to my email, but she did, and maybe
she thought I was stupid because, who knows, maybe I had some typos or
something, but I had insight into the issue that was personally delivered
to me (via email) by my local state senator, earlier in the week.

Looks like you put yourself on her radar screen. That could
mean one of two things -

    * She loves you, and wants you on her staff
    * She hates you, and wants to keep an eye on you

Either way, you win. So smile, you're on Candid Camera.

Can Amy tell the truth to her citizens?

Like George Washington, she can never tell a lie.

to be all about. And yet, that is exactly what is happening. What

As interpreted by who? No president is above the law. No president
can rule by decree. Even in times of war the POTUS did not have the
authority to cancel elections and become dictator. However, what we
have today is a POTUS who has no respect for the rule of law. After
this sham trial is conducted, and it becomes obvious he has no chance

Mitt Romney thought he could get away with it, until Trump reminded

Romney is a true embarrassment to the GOP.

He is a US Senator from the state of Utah, elected by majority vote
of the people. Says far more about him than the current occupant
    of the White House.

I still voted for him though.

He ran a horrible presidential campaign. Totally inept. Lots
of mistakes that never should have happened. His campaign manager
should have done a much better job keeping him in line. But that
may have been impossible, given Romney's personality.

He would have been terrible, but at least I got back at the Islamic traitor
    the only way I could.

He did a credible job as governor of Massachusetts. Even though
he only served one term. His short tenure with the Olympic games
in Utah also made him appealing to the general public.

    But he was no Obama.

The guy who brought "hope and change" to America.

And an end to Osama bin Laden.

And an end to Moammar Qaddafi & Sons.

Placed sanctions on Russia for having invaded Ukraine and
    illegally annexing Crimea.

Family man, married to the same woman, raising two beautiful daughters.

Found the light, thanks to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and has praised
