• Fat Lady Singing

    Hello Everybody,

    "It's STILL the economy, stupid!" ~Lee Lofaso

    Although "The Trump Base" may not have heard her yet,
    The Fat Lady is singing. And the closer it gets to Election
    Day, the louder and louder she will be singing. Oh, what
    a beautiful song that is. The sound of Sweet Liberty ...

    Where The Orange One is now: a job approval rating in
    the low 40s.

    Fact #1: Since WWII, only two presidents have had an approval
    rating at or below 45% in mid-March of an election year -
    * George HW Bush, at 39%
    * Jimmy Carter, at 45%
    Both went on to glorious defeat (by greater than 5 points).
    Jimmy Carter made is special by getting a mere 49 electoral
    votes.

    Fact #2: There have been five presidents with a job approval
    rating of 55% or above -
    * Bill Clinton, at 55%
    * Ronald Reagan, at 55%
    * Richard Nixon, at 58%
    * Dwight Eisenhower, at 72%
    * Lyndon Johnson, at 80%
    All of these presidents won their elections by 9 points or greater.

    Fact #3: There have been four presidents with a job approval
    rating between 46% and 54% -
    * Barack Obama, at 47%
    * George W. Bush, at 49%
    * Harry Truman, at 51%
    * Gerald Ford, at 47%
    All of their elections were decided by less than 5 points,
    with only Ford not winning.

    What does this say about the prospects for Donald J. Trump
    to win a second term in office?

    Fact #4: No president since WWII has won a second term with
    a job approval rating of below 45% in mid-March of an election
    year.

    This means time is almost up for Donald J. Trump.

    If it turns out that economic performance is really going to boost
    his job approval ratings to a second term, we should all start seeing
    lots of evidence of that in his job approval rating. IOW, if his job
    approval rating stays where it is or declines, he is in trouble. Big
    trouble. Even if the economy keeps on going like his supporters
    claim it is.

    *LAUGH*

    You mean the Left-wing media "polls" to get the job approval ratings? Ya, those aren't worth the hot air they are made of.

    The only good poll is the one related to fund raising. People learned in 2016 that if they let their real preferences out in a media poll that they would be harassed for it. So they usually tell the pollsters what they want to hear.

    But where they spend their money shows a completely different story.

    One site I checked had Trump at #1. Crazy Bernie comes in a far far second and it only goes downhill fast from there.
    A second site I checked shows Tom Steyer at #1 (the vast majority of his funding is self and personal loans) with Trump a close #2 and the rest of the Dems very far behind.

    This means time is almost up for Donald J. Trump.

    Right... <sarcasm>Time is almost up for Trump.</sarcasm>
    All Trump will have to do is run commercials with the Dems own sound bytes and he will win by a landslide.

    Hello Aaron,

    Racism is winning! That's in the low something too!

    We are all racists (and bigots). Every man, woman and child
    on the face of this planet. What we do to overcome our racism,
    both as individuals and as a society, is up to us.

    Andrew Young, former mayor of Atlanta and US ambassador to the UN,
    said it first. He learned as a young kid, growing up in New Orleans,
    what racism and bigotry really is.

    I tend to agree with his POV.

    We are who we are. How we deal with it is up to us.
