    In the 1950's I remember seeing a picture in a Mechanix
    Illustrated magazine of a tiny Drill Bit that employees at
    a General Electric plant In the USA had made and iirc they
    sent it to a Watch Company in Switzerland to show them what
    they accomplished.

    Later the Swiss sent the Drill Bit back to G.E. with a hole
    they drilled in it.
    The picture in the magazine showed the bit with the hole in
    it.

    Some things like that I haven't forgot.....yet. <grin>

    Now that you mention it I remember that story, but it was a
    Russian Drill bit and an American trade show.

    I believe your one since I now know someone who actually saw it.

    That must have been later, like in the 1970's or after that.
    I'm still fairly sure in my foggy brain that it was G.E. who made
    the tiny bit that they were proud of, and wanted to show off to the
    Swiss Watchmakers.

    Mechanix Illustrated (MI) was the first magazine I subscribed to.

    I looked at Popular Mechanics (PM), MI
    (and I think Popular Science(PS) if it was published then)
    at my library to compare them before deciding to order MI.

    To narrow it down I think I subscribed between 1953 and 1956. ???? ??

    I believe your one since I now know someone who actually saw
    it.
