    Interesting thing here.

i get notifications of when people vote.

Only daitengu is the person who posts on dovenet.
All the other guys do not not post on dovenet. Never heard of them, never saw them around on other bbses. I wonder if these are bots that work their way onto bbses.

i get notifications of when people vote.

That brings up a quasi-related question I have.

When someone upvotes or downvotes a message, I get a notification when I
log onto my board and it tells me who voted. I have heard others talk as
if you can also be reading the message and have a way to list who has voted.

I am running 3.20 and cannot find that option. Is that an option or did I
just misunderstand where they are seeing the info?

I have never tried posting a poll, so I figure that works a little
    different.

Digital Distortion Message Reader has an option (only for sysops) to show the tally information, which will show who voted on it (but currently doesn't show if they made an upvote or downvote).

yeah that's what i see too. i voted for #1.

You might want to expand on it and make it more robust. perhaps anonymous voting and maybe save data when it's not. and make it a voting module to be
used locally on the bbs. I'm not sure if it has that feature, I've never used it and I have it disabled.

I'm not sure what you mean by "save data when it's not". The record of who voted how is saved already, it's just not displayed to anyone without extra effort. Voting is already fairly anonymous, though there does need to be a record kept (and it is) and its always possible for a sysop to display that record some way or another (so not truly anonymous).

and make it a voting module to be
used locally on the bbs. I'm not sure if it has that feature, I've never used it and I have it disabled.

There is the "/V" command at the main menu to vote on any polls that you haven't seen/voted on already. But as for a "voting module", Nightfox created one.

If you want local voting with Synchronet, you could just allow voting/polls in a local sub-board.

I dont know if 'slyvote' is the same as your qwk voting or if those are two different things.

SlyVote is a voting booth door in JS for Synchronet that displays polls & their results and allows users to vote on them, as well as post new polls.

I dont know if 'slyvote' is the same as your qwk voting or if those are two different things.

It's really SMB-voting with QWKnet extensions to make it work over DOVE-Net (or any other QWK network). Doesn't work over other network types (NNTP, Fido, etc.).

SlyVote uses the same poll/vote storage methods (exposed in the MsgBase class of Sync-JS), but has a more traditional "voting booth door" interface.

I was just throwing out my crummy ideas.

The SMB-voting *can* be used for a local-only voting: by posting a poll to a local (not networked) message base, that poll is by definition, local on the BBS.
