If I went by the old procedures, it wont make it til Sunday, as it is, I spent today and am still working on it, getting this machine fully acclimated to win8.1, as I was runng the 8.1 preview, I had to reinstall all the programs.

as it is, I spent today and am still working on it, getting this
machine fully acclimated to win8.1, as I was runng the 8.1 preview, I
had to reinstall all the programs.

A friend of mine installed win8, then upgraded it to 8.1 - He's wishing he hadn't given up on W7 now. I've got a copy of W7 for my laptop, but I've
yet to install it. As much as I hate using Vista, I should have put W7 on
it a long time ago. It has identical Fidonet software installed on it that
my W2K desktop had.

Before I took over the duties, the backbone file only got published on sun/Mon,
and it was that way in the Z1B, during those days I never added new echoes to my own cfgs until they showed up in the backbone files.

I was reluctant to go past W2k, but after I installed XP, I wondered how I
got along without it for as long as I did.

Who? 8^) When I installed 3.11, I wasn't very happy with that OS. I
installed it on my dad's computer to his protests over not wanting to
play games. He got over that crappy OS and enjoyed the card games I put
on it. He was a DOS user too. I skipped over 95 and went straight for W98...Dunno where that hard-drive is now, but I'm not anxious to go back
to that one.

I miss DOS. I have to open a virtual window in my Win7 machine to read
the echos with my programs of choice.

BTW, does your nntp server have all of the echos, or just some of them?
I like to use it to sample new echos, e.g. HOTDOGED.
