I dumped the Win 10 Start menu, also did the same with Win 7.
The program Classic Shel lis very nice and the Run is there where it belongs.
I suspect MS thought too many Win 10 users were dumb as a box of rocks
and would get themselves in trouble by using it
NO NO, bite your tongue. I am living in the past and feel comfortable hereunder it's present name.

Find it in the Start menu and when running, use the URL line to get
IE. IE 11 is the latest. On my machines here, when first running
Edge, there was this option to go to IE.
The run command also is there, do the hotkey Windows and R, it will open a dialogue where you can type anything to suit your little
heart. But run is not one of them. What do you wish to RUN ?

On any folder, clicking the right ear on your mouse will offer a
lot of options. I would not go back to any other version but 10,
this said, I am not a purist, CLI are fine but let them remain in
history.

I have asked you B4, for the address from where I can get that

I never use any Start menu at all. All the apps that I use are on the taskb
and easy to start. There are 28 icons on it so far.
You know, you are not that much ahead of me in years.
I am quite comfortable in W-10.

I am starting to warm up to it. My biggest complaint now is that my machine is so grundged up from adding and deleating programs that it
takes several minutes to start up. I also recently have had multipule
blue screen auto re-boots becasue of screen freezes

Thanks for the address, now I've got two of them.
It may be the second (after ZTree file mgr.) to be installed on that laptop.
Neither am I a friend of Windows, but this time I must get this laptop
to work, if only to satisfy the Christmas gift donor, my GS.
Have a good night,
Well... GMTA. My second was Total Commander! [giggle]
Another file manager, I understand.
Winter has finally arrived here. The last week we have had -11° to
-15°C and the white stuff falling down is making the days longer, and
the days are also getting longer now after the winter solstice. -9°
right now and more snow falling vertically.
Have a nice evening,

Yes. Hence the GMTA. Very early on around 1987, I started using Norton Commander for DOS and that lasted about 5 years; I still have a copy of a European variant with a BBS terminal option. At some time, I did have a
at XTree but I didn't really like it since it didn't follow the same multi-directory panel layout that I was used to. Since the early 90sI've been
using Total Commander for Windows (TC for short). That's over 25 years! :)
These days I use Tux Commander on all of my Linux systems: One Dell desktop;

They both end up at the same... as Tom gave you. :)

I tend to use File Commander/W on my Windows systems and File
Commander/2 (both the same program, just two different platforms) on
my eComStation system. There is also a version of it available for
Linux as well.

Ah, weather... well, we're technically into the second month of
summer but it hasn't startd to really heat up yet. We're having
30-34°C days with variable 60-85% humidity but the Earth is still
warming.
Thank you kindly. Have fun! Be good. (I don't think they're
mutually exclusive.)

Thanks for the list of various Windows File Managers. I have also in the beginning run Norton Commander, Central Points which began as PCTools,
and maybe some others, but I'm glad that I stayed with Xtree and now its descendants ZTree for OS/2 and Windows.

I've deferred this message of yours. It will stay there until I delete
it, ie. not automagically disappear as the reply directory will, after a set time in days.
I just read in todays newspaper that there have wild bush fires, IIRC south of Perth, with temperatures about 39°C and strong winds.
A local inhabitant here is visiting her sisters over there, over the
XMAS season.

Now you're jogging some old memories. I recall toying with PCTools
as well, and a bunch of other utils, say, to low-level format HDDs
and adjust sector-skipping rates, etc. :)

On second thoughts: it's h-e-a-v-y on photo file sizes, so, save it
till you find a fast internet connection. I really must do one or
two piccies of the current Win 8.1 before I blow it away, too. ;)
the same environment as us on the east coast, but it's much much
drier. Hence a lot of bushfires.
A local inhabitant here is visiting her sisters over there, ....
staying with me on the weekend and happened to, just casually mind
you, mention that she works with a girl from Aland! I'm sure she
said Aland. (I'll double-double check.) I should ask for a name,
as well.
Yes, I even received a Mobile Broadband subscription as XMAS gift, so Santa was very kind to me. I'll use it as soon as I've got that Win10 configured to my liking, and got the needed programs installed.
Yesterday, I even got the ZTreeWin installed. Don't ask me how, it just worked. I may have hit the right command prompt, and suddenly it worked.

The lady I mentioned in the previous post, is a retired physiotherapist,
a very good one, named Sheila Sundblom.
Actually, there are many persons from Åland, that either have emigrated to Australia, or are working there, or studying there.
Also, many a sailor have left their ship in Australia, and made a living there, especially from the Eriksson sailing ships that brought wheat to Europe.
It's quite ecpensive to go there just for a holiday, but some do it.
Yes, I even received a Mobile Broadband subscription as XMAS gift,
Ooh, nice.
Ah, yes. I've had days like that too. It means that the winds were favourable and the phase of the moon was opportune.[grin]
I received a SMS note from my little girl: that lady was from
Finland and has returned home now. :(
Also, many a sailor have left their ship in Australia, and made a living there, especially from the Eriksson sailing ships that brought wheat to Europe.
Yikes! I thought you were about to say descendants of Erik the Red!
:)
Maybe a couple of years ago, when the Aussie dollar was on par with
the US greenback. Not now. The Aussie buck is roughly equal to
0.65 Euro. (Long-winded layman's ill-informed explanation deleted.)
