  • Do You Use DVD-R or DVD+R

    For writing DVD's on most computer DVDRW drives, use DVD+R. I've had
    no problems on PC's, laptops, and Apple computers with DVD+R discs.
    However, for some reason DVD-R discs don't seem to play nice on various
    kinds of drives.

    After I put photos on a disk I made for someone I Finalize it so they
    can see the photos.

    Thanks for the comment about -R discs being troublesome, I've been
    using either type and wanted to know if the - or + type DVD was better
    for some purpose.

    I'm glad I dragged my feet before buying this XP box in 2006, because
    the Optical Drive in it can burn both - or + DVD's plus DL discs too.

    I'd hate to be on the Bleeding Edge and had bought the original DVD
    burner made for the - type disc only.

    I try to stay away from the Bleeding Edge, but I was caught when I paid
    $900+ for a HP 4c Scanner to use on a 486 computer w/ Windows 3.1
    in the late 1990's.

    I can buy more than a dozen All In One printers/scanners for that much
    money now.

    I do appreciate all those who purchased the early computer gear and
    made life easier for the people who buy and use them now.

    DVD+R(W) disks came out later.

    I was wondering if one type of disk (MINUS or PLUS) is the
    better one to use for one certain kind of recording over
    the other type disk?

    I have both types but was wondering which type DVD You
    prefer to use?

    Long ago I read about the superiority of DVD-R. Can't recall
    why.

    Don't much worry about which I use.

    Actually becasue DVD-R was the first kid on the block by the time DVD+R
    came around there were lots of DVD-R only Drives installed.
    Unless you have a very old Computer that is no longer a problem.
    Now it is basicly a case of mostly which is cheaper
