My going rate is $180-240/hr so if you want to pay me that rate which other companies pay, I'll give you plenty of attention. Until then you can go fuck yourself.

Wow! I thought I got paid a bunch, but I only get 1/3 - 1/4 of your scale.
Is that contract work, or salary?

Its all contract work, but that is the general amount my company is paid for me to consult other companies. I don't take home that amount, as a lot of it is skimmed off the top. I am on salary with a utilization/earnings bonus.

Basically, my consulting group provides medical benefits, gives me people
to take care of all of the legal work (statements of work, etc), takes my
taxes out, and of course, they provide me with consistent work. And if they don't they either have to fire me, or still pay me my salary while *they* find me work. In exchange, they take a lot of my billable rate. :)

If I went independent I could get closer to those rates I mentioned, but then
I have to worry about all of those things. More money more problems.

I see it now. Yes, I too am a contractor, and my agency does all that for me too. I have no idea what my agency charges my clients. All I know is what they will pay me.

It used to be that way for me too, but in recent times they'll actually send
me Statements of Work to review, and typically it will list the resource job titles and their payment rates.

I did work independent once before. I pulled in a pay check of like $12-14k one month after taxes, which was my highest. I think the rate was like $110/hr directly to me, but it didn't last long.

I make *way, way* less than that now. Not even in the same universe, unfortunately.
